i second (or third?) the vote for the 6.6v LiFePo4 (LiFe) battery packs. they are 6.6v nominal voltage which is right in line with a NiMh 5 cell pack. they also have almost as much current handling capacity as LiPo but without the fire danger. this means i can leave them in the plane and charge them without worrying about dieing in a lipo fire. some of them even have a 30-40C discharge rate. i have one in my 27% Yak thats 2100Mah with a 40C discharge. thats more than enough amps to run 5 Hitec TG Digitals.
Fully charged they are 7.2v, but this drops very quickly when the RX is turned on. they settle at 6.6v and stay there all day. a fully charged 5cell NiMh is usually way more than 6.6v.
best part about them is they dont lose their charge over time like NiMh or NiCads do. I charged one last month and it hung on the wall inside a plane until today. when i put it on the charger to top it off, it only took 10Ma to be fully charged.
