Interesting Tony. I'm sure it has many more uses than just for us.

Working on flaps and ailerons. Have one wing hinged. Still need to cap them all and make my 1/64" ply cover for the flap hinge.

Flaps and ailerons all done. Have the flap hinge covers on. All I need to do is build the torque tubes for the flaps and final sand. Then they are ready for glass. Don't know about you guys but it seems like this takes forever. I've been most of the day just working the wing panels up.

J,

It may seem like it took forever to make up the wing panels, but sitting here working and trying to fit in some build time, it looks like you are moving at warp speed. No kidding, this build is moving along fast. I think I would still be filling and sanding the original fuselage part right about now. No wasting time for you! I do thank you for such clear representations of your work in progress.

No problem Fred. As I said before I have some commitments that will steal time away from the build. And at some point I need to get ready for SEFF. First thing will be to figure how I am going to carry the 92" long Skyray in my 5x8 trailer.

Best looking skyray I ever saw (except a real one). Looks like you have a couple inches to spare in that trailer. Just don't think you will be sleeping in there too! LOL!

If you don't mind one asking, what does she weigh, and what is her motivating powerplant?

Thanks Fred,
The Ray weighs right at 13 lbs with 17 sq ft of WA. Power is a Cobra, here is a link to the motor.
http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/pro...roducts_id=854 Decent speed, decent vertical. Nothing blazing fast but I don't like mine like that anyway.

Hersch,
If I strap it to the top I'm afraid I would lose traction.
I love CA hinges Hersch. Use them every time I can. But the flaps I used Dubro pin hinges.

Andy, haven't heard anything from Darrell yet on Vegas dates. Wonder if the other Daryl ( skyracer)could find out?

Thanks, close to 2000 watts, that should motivate her! I don't need them blinding fast either. Faster than scale is cool, but I like to be able to fly them in a scale jet like manner.

If you do strap her to the roof, keep the batteries in her incase you do get air, so you can get back on the road safely!

Oct 12, 13, & 14th. It's going to be a wonderful family reunion. Mom misses you bro. I do remember the margaritasí I owe you John. Too bad I didn't get the recipe for the Singapore Sling/ Mojito when I was there in January.

Thanks Daryl, I will get my reservations soon! Looking forward to those margarita's! Will be another great event.

Going to try to get the Able Dog wings glass ready today. Only have to set flap torque tubes and final sand them. Had some honey do things yesterday that kept me from working on it.

Got the flap torque tubes done. Sanded the wings and control surfaces and then glassed one side of all. Also, did what I should have done the first time and gave y canopy plug two layers of 3 oz glass. Then a epoxy finish coat, sanded with 1500 grit. Just made another pull and got a useable canopy.

Bryan,
I ordered batts from them about two weeks ago. Took about 4 or 5 days to get an e-mail saying they had been packed and where ready to ship. Never got another e-mail to confirm shipping.
I was about to give up on them and BOOM! UPS truck pulled up and delivered them two days ago. So hang in there, I think they will come w/o shipping confirmation. BTW, they come out of Washington state with a funky return address.
