9x battery mod?

I want to be able to get more time on my transmitter before the battery runs out.

Has anyone done the battery mod for the 9x? Which batteries do you use?

I'm using this battery.

It's been working very well. I replaced the connector with the one from the stock AA holder. The black servo looking connector works, but I liked the fit better this way.

Here's a buddy code for it if you want one.

This one is also very popular...

I also have been using the 3s Turnigy 2650mah transmitter pack with the black connector. I think I've charged it twice in the 3 months I've had it!

I run the Sanyo Eneloop ni-mh cells in my TX's now including my 9X.

4 times the capacity of the stock battery. I'm sure something is available in the US, this
is the Oz distributor. John.

Thank you for the suggestions. If i used the lipo battery pack, how do I connect it to my 9x? Will it fit inside the compartment?

Is there a guide on how to do the install?

I use over counter Grundig 2300mAh NiMh cells in the standard slots ... in theory I have about 9hrs use from these. In practice I've flown all-day 3 models and still had charge left for next day.

I use a Futaba Me series charger at 50mA which is left plugged in to make sure I have a fully charged Tx. If I need to top-up charge the Tx I can either use the Prolux RC Peak Charger which delivers at 1A with delta peak detection, or my B6 charger set to 0.7A.
My NiMH are less than a dollar each, I have a spare set charged up in my flight box, (that's saved anothers flying when his Tx batts were flat !), and I can swap out any bad cell easily by over-counter replacement. I unplug the charger when I go abroad on assignment, when I return Tx is still charged up and good to fly.

20 - 30yrs ago when I was flying then - Tx's were supplied with 500mAh Tx packs as standard. We flew all day with those ....

Here's a pic of the turnigy 2650. It fits fine with no modifications. The black connector also fits into the connector of the tx.

Hey KC,

The lipo battery has connectors that work with the 9x or did you have to change connectors? Please let me know what you did. Thanks!

So no need to modify anything? Just plug the battery and you're good to go?

Ok buddy, I guess posts 7 and 9 were not clear enough for you.

So, the battery will fit and connect with no modification to battery or radio.

Thank you. I didn't understand what "black" connector meant. African American connector is more proper.
