Help!

Should I or shouldn't I?

URGENT!!!

Should I put a vxl3s system in my Evader DT or should I not?

Truck is mostly stock except for steering and Rx box.

Also, can I use my Onyx 3000 stick pack with changed connectors?

I have an Evader and honestly coming from 4wd vehicles, I don't know how you use all that power with a 2wd. It just spins out or turns the slipper clutch to wax. It just doesn't hook up in turns, any of my 2wd vehicles.

They have some metal gears for the evader now, might be necessary with a vxl. The 3000 packs probably wouldn't last long, 15 minutes tops.

Great! Well, I didn't end up getting the system today, I'll prob. get it next week. I'll check at my LHS for the metal gears.

Didn't get it at all. Got a SV2 instead. Much cheaper.

Definitely get the duratrax metal idler gear and the duratrax CVD's for the nitro evader to handle the brushless power. Should be good to go after that.

What do you mean by CVD?

I also need a metal spur gear (or someone in the GTA to fabricate me one) because I have about 4 speed runs before it is grinds down to a circle with no teeth.

That would be from setting your mesh either too tight or too loose. You should only need a regular plastic/nylon spur. Cvd is an axle more or less.

Agreed, sounds like the mesh wasn't right at all. There's no way you need a metal spur gear for that motor.

CVD's: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXVWC6&P=ML
Metal Idler: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXAEJL&P=M
And as the others have said, you shouldn't need a metal spur. Either your mesh is wrong or the teeth on your pinion are a different size/pitch than the ones on your spur.

Both are 48 pitch. Even before the stock config the spur was ground down by the pinion before I installed anything.

Maybe I'll just get my LHS to fix the mesh for me.

Yea must be the mesh, I've had my Evader Bx set up with a Tekin Redline 8.5T motor for almost a year now and no problems with the pinion or spur. (Or any other driveline parts since the metal idler and CVD upgrade.)

You should have a tiny amount of play between the teeth when the gears are meshed together. An old trick is to put a piece of paper between the gears, shove them together, and tighten the motor screws. This should get your mesh about right.
