Just a Father's POV regarding the whole "free contraception of college students" deal

Let's just ignore for now all of the contrversy regarding the actual issue of whether or not taxpayers should provide free contraception to college students ..

As a father, I would be really PISSED if my daughter was spending so much time having sex, that she couldn't afford contraception let alone actually find the time to do what she was sent to college to do.

Being provided "free" vs. being a covered benefit is not the same thing.

The girl and the guy should split the cost of condoms, or the guy should reimburse the woman for half the cost of the pills if they are only taken as Birthcontrol, It takes two to tango.

But I still never seen or read where anyone wants tax payers money to pay for their sex or their BC.

As a father, would you rather that a daughter didn't use contraception, ended up pregnant eight months before her final exams and wasted the whole time, and all that hard work?

Not sure where you are getting the equation from, regarding how much time having sex, versus affording the cost of female contraception is in any way related though.

I would rather my daughter concentrate on getting good grades and earning her degree.

Oh, I can speak as a Citizen on the merit of providing free contraception. But that's not my point here ... there are other threads for that.

I'm just speaking as a father who would be really upset of my daughter were to give me a call one day to say ... "Hey dad ... I'm getting so much action here at University, that I'm spending all my money on condoms ... can you send me some extra cash?"

Now ... if it were my son ... I'd send him a check as well as an "atta boy!" ... again... speaking as a father ...

If you've inferred that I implied that there exists a double standard ... you would be correct.

There you have it then, the utimate double standard and most likely to be at least partly the reason why Mr Limbaugh's odious and disgusting remarks have received such widespread tacit approval.

However I'm still not seeing where there is a relationship between time spent having sex and the cost of affording female contraception. The cost is the same whether the female student would have had sex three times a day, twice a week, once a month or once a semester.

Let's see ... Once a semester ... equals one condom twice a year. So what's that ... 3 bucks?

Three times a day ... 4.50 a day ... say each semester is four months long ... say ... a 100 days per semester ... two semesters a year ... 900 bucks a year on condoms? Now, we have an issue ... which would most likely requiring daddy to drive over to the Universtity, packing her crap up and bringing her home.

I just heard a few interesting things about this Fluke girl that testified for the obama administration. Fluke herself is really a 30-year-old women‘s rights activist who not only didn’t get caught without contraception at Georgetown, but specifically knew the university didn’t cover it and chose to attend for precisely that reason.

This is exactly what this administration does all the time. They lie and they find people to lie for them.

IF someone wants contraception they should go out a buy it. It has nothing to do with the government and absolutely is something people should pay for themselves.

What if she was only spending 15 minutes twice a week?

He got it from Rush Limbaugh...that's not a stretch considering that was his whole nonsense argument. As was said before, Rush things the female pill is like his Viagra. That the woman takes it before every time she has sex. Very silly...

You are talking specifically about condoms. I'm not talking specifically about condoms. I'm talking about female contraception in general, including the contraceptive pill, as in the transcript from the female student that was referenced in the original discussion that Mr Limbaugh was involved in.
