I finished up the plane yesterday at the flying field: arrived at the Guangzhou field with some friends at 12, and finished up the plane at 2 and did an approximate CG, will need to measure it correctly tonight and get the AUW for you guys as well.
MAN the plane is light though, when I first started flying it, the air was not bad and the plane just floated and floated and floated. I worked on some low level stuff with my RUDDER and it felt good. Only lasted maybe 30 mins or so until the wind shifted and the field became the downwind zone of a large hill, and the air became very turbulent. I still flew the super light Neos and it flew quite well actually, just not as stable as my regular plane which is (I'm guessing, since I don't know this AUW yet) likely almost a whole OZ heavier. Launches are about 3-4 meters lower than my regular plane, I will be ballasting it to match my other weight and will do some back to back testing. Wing is very stiff and the guys who threw it all thought it was just as strong as my regular Carboline wings at 105grams...nice.... Still more testing due for the foam but it's looking GREAT. |

Got to fly a Neos in the weekend briefly. Was an early varient, but showed a lot of potential. Was particulary impressed with the boom design. Layup on that particular boom could have better launch strength optimisation, but in cross section, it could be made to be one of the stiffest ones out there!
I like the model! Sorry, only really jumped on this thread now. |

Paint was very helpful, and production ones will have 2x wider bands both top and bottom so should be even better.
The skull'ed Neos belongs to Nick Ng, he did a very neat 4-in-pod install with JR 385's (or 285's in the US) and a ball-crank system like the old Steigs. Using a very porky tailset we made using some leftover precured carbon with an AUW of ~280g IIRC. If he switches it to the regular carbon tails I'm going to estimate a weight savings of 10g all up, or 20g if he switches to the glass tails. Launches nice but he really sets up his plane differently than me, I could barely fly it! Heheheheh |

Alex, Wynn told me you were helping him on launches too, glad you guys like it! It is very very stiff. If you have suggestions please don't hesitate to send me a message! I'm excited to see these models popping up in NZL and AUS, there should be even more showing up soon!!
Dave, peer pressure It's fun! Hehehe, I need some time to get used to it again in some manouvers though. For you guys' information.... The tails you see at <14g is full-carbon skin, 1K carbon LE, 4 carbon rods in the vertical (2 on each side), and 2 carbon rods on the stab (1 on each side). Talk about stiff and overbuilt...just the way I like it. Can't wait to overbuild the wings |

I've posted some Neos building photo on facebook last night, and some Neos pilots showed their interested in my building way.
I will post some pics here, and all detail photos are in the link below: http://www.tsmx.cn/bbs/viewthread.ph...authorid=44414 Hope you guys enjoy it. Nick |

Got it weighed in at 245g with carbon wings, carbon tails, and 4 servos. If I wanted a very light plane I should use the glass tails instead and save ~12g from the AUW, but I prefer durability on the fields I fly at.
More testing reports soon D! I hope to get out to the field a couple mornings this week before work, and maybe take half a day off work on wednsday to do some flying. |

BTW, i seem to not be able to read my own spec'ed dimensions.... I spaced the root of my servos at 50mm from the root rather than the servo arm...dumba$$....I knew something didn't look right!!!
Please remember it's 50mm from SERVO ARM to the root guys, that's where the reinforcements are!! |
