Just for fun, I tried to snap a flaperon horn today with my hands and couldn't break it.

Some photos of the servo installation last night.

As you can see the bolt hole is too close to the front spar. We will be moving both spars slightly forward so that the bolt hole will go between them and let the hardpoint tie everything together. That will also mean that the servos can be placed in an even thicker part of the wing.

The remaining things I need to do:
-install blade
-connect elevator to servo
-solder wing servo connections

Fingers crossed to get it to maiden tomorrow morning before work!

I have set the CG a bit rearward on this one @ 73mm, will see how well it flies with that CG.

Thanks Dave,
The Shift is 291 grams, and the Neos is 270 grams.
Shift is just below 22dm^2 of wing area, and the Neos is just above 22dm^2. Very floaty when needed

The Neos actually came out a bit heavier than I want with the new tailset. We will pull a bit more resin from the tails and save a couple grams overall.

Can probably save another few grams from the wings. I'm expecting production AUWs to be about 265grams.

Okay, back from my morning flying session with my Neos and Shift planes.
Man! Those things are light in the air

The Neos is very forgiving, and is doing everything it was designed to do, as with previous iterations of the model. Drop the nose a little and it will speed up, but the thing I like more is how much it likes camber... I am currently using 5mm for my float mode and it just goes on and on. CG is at 73mm, I am going to try it at 75mm tomorrow morning and see how it works.

I was able to catch 4 5~6 minute thermal rides with it at 8:30 in the morning... and the slightly wider tips, slightly forward swept wings, and washout combo allows it to turn very very tightly without tip-stalling, which allows it to work very small and light lift.

One of the flights I was coming back, and at the half-tree height I felt a bump and tried to take it up. Bank angle was 50degrees +/- with a radius of 4 meters or so... took it up for one of those 5~6 minutes flights. Don't think I could have done that with the other planes in my stable (maybe the FW5).

Enough hyping for today There are several changes we will be doing to the production wing. We will extend the flaperons to 1 inch from the tips and forego the trileron setup. We will also cut the flaperons like 'normal', and instead post a tutorial on how to post-bagging preface it with our tape method if you wish to do that. We think the tape method is great, but some of the guys I've spoken to didn't like the way it looks, and didn't like using tape hinges (especially on a wing that's already kevlar!).

We will also extend the reinforcements on the tips for another 2cm because on the current configuration it still doesn't give the feel I am looking for.

Hey Wayne, thanks for the compliments!
I'll be bringing a few new sets to Vancouver but they're all accounted for by the Washington guys and a buddy from Brazil. I probably won't be able to finish anymore than that before I leave for Vancouver.
You can check out the prototype that I will be flying and I can ship you guys some kits if you want
