Chris, I thought the sound was a lot lower in the second video and did not sound like 98k. I'll get on it some time today.

Good to see you back Chris!

Dave, in the second video the sound is a lot more silent, but in terms of frequency you hear something different. There is a very high tone that probably comes from the four blades. The fundamental of the motor transmitted to the coil isn't really noticable due to the good balance. When I made the setup worse that tone kicked in like in the first video. The rattling noice you hear is the shaft bouncing against the bearing from time to time and causing some vibrations. This can be much worse when the balance is off or the play in the bushing is tighter. Kind of funny that you seem to need a sloppy bushing...

HOLY ****! That's small! How? who? what? HOW?
How much thrust does it produce? I figure you'd need a very light airframe for that.

Ok, I can confirm now that we are talking about rpms in the 90k range. I measured 92k with the 4-blade on the scope. 100k should be no deal. Actually, the motor doesn't get warm. I need to build a hotter one

I am just finishing a prototype of a sensorless driver for these single phase motors that is controlled by a standard servo signal. Running on SPECTRUM AR6300 right now. Anybody interested

How much current is it currently sucking Chris?

How many winds would be a good starting point for a 15mm edf - 3 blader?

Looking forward to getting one of these controller for sure!

Hey Dave,

you will get the first controller

You are asking difficult questions. Current is still around 190mA. RPM after a closer look on the scope is exactly 100k That is the easy part. Number of winds I have no clue. I wound on the lathe and it was a bit too fast to count. I probably will go by wire length in the future. I used .1mm wire for the 10mm. .4mm wire for the 20mm. So the wire thicknes goes with the sqare of the size (constant supply voltage). I would recommend .22mm wire for a 15mm fan to start with. Just wind until it looks fine in terms of magnet/coil volume. I f you manage to count, go from there and rewind until you find the sweet spot. But I don't have to tell a motor crack

Chris,

I take it, to take advantage of your generosity, you need expierence building motors??? If so, I'd need to get spun up (no pun) with the skills. Been watching you from afar and what you're doing is amazing. Really admire what you're doing and you're generosity.

Here comes the squall

Smaller than I thought and as easy to build as the large one

I thought I have to push the 3'' project a bit before I send Joe a controller I will assemble a couple of controllers within the next days. The first one shipped yesterday

This has given me an idea for a nano servo, Chris. I'll PM you later.
