Stuff of Star Trek and Star Wars, LOL. Too bad I will never live long enough to figure out all this really cool stuff you are doing. I hope one day you get rich selling stuff to the rest of us.

What materials?

What material will the airframe be build from?
Is there some nanotube-based super-duper-lightweight material you are in possession of ? =)

Hi I plan to build the frame with balsa as usual and might apply some non-woven carbon sheet (4g/m^2) which I got a sample from The thinnest glas available would be too heavy I think.

Now that Germany is out of the championship, I might get back to the topic

Some day it will fly... :)
Chris,

Are there advantages/disadvantages of using a two phase motor , regarding speed/torque/consumption/... ?

Hi guys

This is what kept me from working on the jets. My servo development platform

Hey Dave 500mm span. The ailerons made trouble since the new code made the wings flap too much integral part...

how much do your servos weigh?

Hi minimi,

these servos can be build in almost any size. This version is around .3-.4g.

The glider is going really nice. Waiting for wind now Need to continue with the jet!

... the servo hardware has been the same for years now. The current development is focused in optimizing the code. Lately, I reduced power consumption and acoustic noise. I also put in a integral part in the control loop, but the coefficient wasn't correct yet, so I got problems with stability. I also found, that the wings are much more critical, since they start to resonate driven by the servo. Obviously, I don't have an optimized code that runs under all conditions. That would be the goal though to make a product (maybe open source) out of it. The old code with higher power consumption was stable under all these conditions. So far, I also have to adapt the code for polarity of the coil ( I rather reprogram than resolder). Also for the coarse trim I adapt the code. I have one older code variant with an initialization routine that is triggered by full throw during power up. This routine should also auto detect the correct polarity of the driver pattern in the future so you don't have to take care which way around you attach your coil or glue in the magnet. Many ideas...

New Motor

Hi guys,

finally, I got back on topic. I tested out to glue coils on a waxed mandrel. It works! This motor is running very stable. I think this is about 95000 rpm. Did a little bit of balancing by chipping of pieces from the hub. Balance did get a lot better but isn't perfect yet. Anyway, I am on the way. Not such a big deal.

10mm EDF running on 95000rpm (0 min 26 sec)
