Just here for the pie.
Mine is held up for a bit. Lena at HobbyOne sorted the issue out with UPS and I just have to call them before I go to work today to re-confirm my shipping address.

Hopefully not too much of a delay.

I've ordered the Turnigy 9X as well. The advantage to me is that with a little modification, I can have interchangeable modules--and I can potentially ditch Spektrum. Also, I'm a code monkey so being able to brew my own firmware is a big plus.

Cheers!

Letīs see if Telemetry (with my MX400) works as fine as with the Devo8.

More later.

Enjoy it.

Just here for the pie.
I had a nice surprise waiting for me on my back porch when I got home from work today--my free DEVO-10. It must be really new because it came in a DEVO-7 box.

My first impressions are:
-solidly constructed;
-easy to use (though it took me a couple attempts to get the RX1002 to work, turns out I needed to turn the RX on while the bar was scrolling on the TX--new process for me);
-easy to navigate and program (I had my first model programmed in about 4 minutes);
-the gimbal movement is smooth.

What I like:
-tool-less adjustment of gimbal knob height;
-globally disabled vibrate motor;
-all switches programmable;
-adjustable backlight brightness;
-the extra grip on the handle, making it comfortable to carry to the field.

What I don't like:
-so far nothing!

I'll give it a good run-through over the easter weekend and post a review on hobbyone's website.

Cheers!

Okay, got myself into a bit of trouble...

The 'linkage icon' for trainer mode is showing when I turn on the radio and it doesn't connect with the receiver. There's nothing plugged into the DSC socket, so why is this? How do I get rid of it?

I was playing with settings last night, but completely avoided the 'trainer' stuff. Is there a way to completely reset the radio?

Edit: I thought I had it resolved--it worked once, after turning the receiver on first, then the radio. Now it's back to the 'linkage icon'. A bit frustrating. I updated the firmware to 0.4B, but I can't get rid of the icon. Stumble, stumble.

Cheers!

There is a manual available for the DEVO 10 on the Walkera site:

That's where I figured out it had to do with the trainer function. Thanks FDR_

I contacted Walkera but if I don't get this resolved, I'll have to give it a lemon rating on the HobbyOne website.

I got some advice in the DEVO-8 thread to give the trainer port a good go with the cable to loosen/clean it out, but it wasn't a permanent fix.

I did some probing of the jack. It's got insertion switches (connections break when plug is inserted) but they don't go anywhere in the circuit. It doesn't seem to make any sense that they used a jack like that (which usually costs more) but then not use the capabilities of it.

I don't know what to try next. Right now, the radio is just a pile of junk taking up valuable space on my workbench. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Yes, 0.4B from the Walkera website. It shipped with 0.3B but I updated to 0.4B when I started having the issue--hoping it was a bug in 0.3B.

Cheers!

Can I ask a big favour?
Would you be so kind to open up the tx, and write down all the text of the IC's you see? It would be a big help if you could photograph the board as detailed as you can!

Thanks, FDR

Sure. It's already in pieces on my workbench.

Give me a couple days. Things are a bit hectic with Easter and all.

Guys can you tell me the difference between the two firmwares for the DEVO 10? One is "DEVO 10 10mw release" and the other is "DEVO 10 100mw release".

I'm assuming just the power output?

The difference is just that. One is for the 10mW version and the other one is for the 100mW version.

I won a 10mW version. I tried flashing the 100mW version first (not knowing which version I had) but on reboot, it displays "INVALID VERSION" and continually reboots.

I don't know if there are other differences, sorry.

Cheers!

Ok thanks. Not aware there are different versions, I just bought a DEVO 10 and I flashed both firmwares and they both work fine, just that the "power amplifier" settings don't go as high on the 10mw firmware. I can use either one and not get an "INVALID VERSION" message.

Initial pictures of the guts of the DEVO-10 as requested...

Taken with my iPhone, but the wife's back now with her digital camera (16MP) if you need more/better photos.

Cheers!
