Grove ITG3200 Gyro

This is the closest gyro I've come across as a plug and play replacement to the Wii Motion Plus. (For those of us that fly tri's, quads & hex's with just a hard wired gyro only... ) Bench testing looks great running Alex's V1.9. I'll transfer this over to one of my Tri's tomorrow and start test flying it.

It's a 5v input but still requires 4.7k ohm pull-up resistors.

And this could come in handy too Tim It's an I2C bus. You could easily add components (acc, barom, mag ) as you go.

Exactly. It's a clever system. Next time, I'll mount the pull-ups on the side solder tabs. I like the fact that it has a flat bottom too.

Everything is mounted and ready to go for maiden. Rock solid in the bench test with mid throttle. The line stayed nice and flat....

Just took it for a test flight and it's as smooth as silk. Couldn't be happier!

Maidened a new gyro - The Grove 3 Axis Gyro ITG3200 - 3-2-12 (1 min 26 sec)

Looks as smooth as the WMP. Nice to know there is something out there to replace our beloved WMP.

Here you go. I keep it simple and fly with just a gyro... (no extra gadgets.)

Awesome! Good to know. Will have to try one on my next project. Although I still have one new in box genuine WMP left.
