The whole point of extreme aerobatics is to be able to go back and forth from one end of the spectrum to the other, and to do it all. I got so burned out on practising pattern that it put me out of the sport for 15 years. On the other hand, I can't imagine anything more boring that simply puttering around in an alpha all day long, so you gotta mix it up.

Set up is everything. To do 3D, you are going to have to give up some precision (as compared to a plane set up for precision). To go back and forth from precision to 3D requires a pilot to be very well rounded, and that's really what we are all working on when we fly extreme aerobatics.

I don't even use a low rate any more because I get so focused on the flying I forget about it. All the precision work you see me do is on my insane 3D rate.

Anyone do custom graphics for it?!?
I just got my custom package from B and E Graphics and it looks really nice. I sent them my original set of Laser decals and they copied it in vinyl for me.

However, if you want something different, they can make just about anything you could want. I prefer mine as close to historical as I can get it. that, and I always liked the Bud Lite scheme.

It looks a lot better in person and doesnt come with white graphics on it. You gotta put them on yourself. So, you can just fly a nice red plane or you now have a great blank slate on which to add your own custom graphics.

Colour scheme is a very personal thing but personally I think that the Laser looks great, it's very scale like, slightly understated and more 'grown-up'. This is in contrast to the garish child's toy airplane look of some schemes.

This is not surprising as the Laser scheme is a scale colour scheme.

But each to their own.

I maidened my new Laser today, and after 4 packs I'm pretty sure it's my favorite of all the EXPs!! I got lucky and hit the CG perfect, so I was lucky enough to spend the whole first pack playing. I spent a few minutes in the second flight fine-tuning the KE mix, and the next 2 packs were AWESOME! Can't wait to get back to the field!!!

Good stuff!.. Where did you find the CG sweet spot to be? I've got mine on the former right behind the wing tube (100mm from LE) which is actually a little further back that the manual advises, but I found that's what it needed to get a neutral CG (hands off inverted)

I didn't measure it, but I lifted it just behind the wing tube with everything together to make sure it would at least balance somewhere close. I'm pretty sure it's on the former behind the wing tube.

Purchased!!!
So who is using an HS-85mg on the elevator?
I'm planning to build mine with 5065mg all around and with a 5085mg on the elevator unless it's way overkill? Thoughts?

Stay away from the 5065's. There are posts in the other EF and PA threads about this servo. I've personally lost two planes to this servo...and I would hate to hear that you lose your new Laser to this servo too.

Just my $0.02 worth.
