New Video: VTPR California Style

UltraBatics California Style (4 min 15 sec)

Watch in fullscreen HD with sound on if ya know what's good for ya!!

Super fun day yesterday with the ultralight Le Fish at Ellwood. We've had a really beautiful winter and yesterday was a prime example. The grass is green, the flowers are blooming and it was just a wonderful time to be alive.

Mine too!

Steve:

American VTPR indeed!

This video is an example of archetypal and superlative Elwood flying... super crisp and clean. I love how you worked the juicy nooks and crannies. I could smell the sweet aroma of freshly cut grass. I so wish I was there with you and Peter.

The world is supposed to end in 2012. I predict it will be at the moment that you, Peter and myself fly and film a session at Ellwood.

IT'S MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THINK

Thanks for the nice words you guys. Coming from the two of you, that's very high praise!

Your stuff just keep's getting better and better. We try to do close in work and try not to "land" because the first 100'-150' from where we launch is made up of broken beer bottle's added to the cactus of different type's. El Catio being the worst. Other than that it's our slope and it has some advantage's. Will be starting the fuse mold for the composite Le Fish today.

Ellwood Mastery! So beautifully done Steve. True California VTPR.

Was that all you or did Peter take the stick at all? Can you remind us again of the planes stats? Weight, Wingspan, etc.

Very impressive...I'm green with envy!

That's all me, filmed with the GoPro2 on my head (127* FOV, 1080p 30fps)

Peter was flying the moldie that flashed through the screen a couple times.

This is the same Le Fish I've been flying since the summertime. It's holding up really, really well - I think the Depron covered in laminating film is as durable, if not more durable than balsa. Seriously! I've crashed the crap out of this thing and it's holding up better than my original Le Fish did. Obviously the ultra light weight has a big part of this.

Specs: 1.5m wingspan, 16.5oz AUW, SB96V/VS airfoil

Build thread: How to build a Swiss Fish

Le Fish plan here: Le Fish and Spindrift plans. The proper CAD plan is still in progress... sorry for the delays, all my fault but it will happen when it happens.

And of course the kits are available from LEG, but if you want to do an ultralightweight you need to swap all wood pieces for Depron, use a lighter spar, and trim the wing to 60" (helps rollrate too). See the build thread for details Le Fish kit at Leading Edge Gliders

Thanks

Steve

LOL apparently clips from this video were featured on the TV show "Right This Minute":

Thanks Hugocraft for the heads up. I'm still laughing... when the lady from the show contacted me about using my clip, I seriously thought I was getting spammed and/or trolled. I still think maybe I am? LOL just kidding
