Garden State Model Boaters

I created a Facebook page for our club if anyone is interested. You should be able to access the page even if you do not have a FB profile. Of interest is the Photo, Video and Events pages. I just created this today so as I have content I'll be adding what I can.

Somewhere here there is a post with someone asking about a model of a Coast Guard Cutter that was taken at Lake Hopatcong. I added a few pictures and videos of this CGC. The cutter is the CGC Matinicus.

We had our first fun float for 2012. We were at Sunset Lake in front of Asbury Park Convention Hall. Here are a few pictures. There are more pictures on the Facebook page, link is above. You should not need a FB account to get to our FB page.

Not easy to take pictures and try and sail your model. Since my boat is a fishing boat, I sailed upwind and let it (fish) drift while I took picture. Having a DSLR with a viewfinder you can tilt up works great taking water level shots. Now I have to give the DSLR back to my daughter and get my own!

Rich we missed you today!

Ken,

Looks like you had a great day of sailing. Too bad I didn't know, otherwise I would have come down to join you. All was not lost though, I spent a good portion of my day planking the deck on 1949 Chris Craft Runabout, so I was doing some modelling/boating activity

The MIss Belmar looks great, so do the other boats.

I am kinda bummed, no sailing this weekend and next weekend when we do sail I'll be out of town, which means my hulls won't touch the water again till mid May.

I only had two pictures of the tug for that day. There may be more among the other albums.

All of the pictures I have are on the Facebook page on the link posted just above the pictures. You do not need a Facebook account to look at the FB page with pictures.

Club Night Sail on May 23rd

Our club had our first night sail of the season. I tend to take more pictures of my boat so I hope you don't get board of seeing them. Regardless if you do or not I'll post them anyway. I only have the one boat for now but I am working on a USS Marlin submarine which you can see the build thread in the Sub forum. There were only a few boats there that night, but I did get Larry's PT (californiakid on rcgroups). Before it got dark, a bit of a fog bank rolled in which I was able to catch with my boat in it. The bright flood lights are vacuum formed on a machine I made, check my blog for the thread. This was the first time using my new Nikon camera, I need to play with it more. One pic of the PT was taken with a night vision effect.

Our next event is this Saturday, June 2nd. I promise I'll have pictures of other models.

That's so cool. I wish we could have night runs in SoCal. All the parks close up tight at sunset.

Is that cabin cruiser a Lyman? The one with the black lapstrake hull? I thought it might be a kit-bashed Legend Model Boat kit.

We are sailing again on Saturday morning. I will ask the owner more about the boat then. And post new pictures.
