Oh I HATE the odds
What are the odds?
I plan on maiden-ing two planes, a hotliner and a little trainer I will use to teach the newcomers ..
Have everything ready from 2 weeks ago, all negotiations with my wife done ...
PLUS I got the flu (a mild version so far )

Feel like crying

Morning flights

Cloudy, 0 to 3mph breeze, still over a foot of ice, and temp at 34. We put two Super Cubs up for five batteries each and with a little mist, launched a Fox powered glider on it's maiden flight. Raining like crazy now, but we're good!

Mid-60's forecast for us in Maine over the weekend. The rain, coupled with the warm temps, will more than likely end our lake flying. Like the warm weather but love flying from the middle of a lake!

Gorgeous weather Wednesday, but we had lots of appointments. So we planned to do some flying Thursday, including getting shots of a plane I'm submitting for a magazine article.

Back door cold front came in Thursday morning. We live in south-central NJ, and the wind progs showed the main thrust of the winds and wet weather was almost dead-on at our flying field. No flying Thursday, still lousy today, and we have a club Flea Market to work tomorrow...

BTW, for those who live in warmer climes, I'm ex-USAF. I've lived all over the US, and all areas have their pluses and minuses. So many of those areas that are nice and warm in the winter are ovens in the summer -- you can get cabin fever in the heat just as badly as you can in the cold.

Foggy to the point of being socked in this morning in the Southern Sierras and a bit breezy. We're looking at a late-season snow storm this weekend so it looks like I'll just hang out in the shop.

What the heck. It's been a good week in that I've been to the local RC field once and out in the hills sloping twice. Gotta swap out the HS-81s for 85mgs in the Super Cheetah anyway and start assembling the GP Revolver.

Friday ended up windier than expected, flew my trusty Switch and when the wind died down I did get to maiden my EF Yak54. Non-event but I did have it too nose heavy. 1st flight so I went that way. Easy to sort out!

Smacked the Cub

We flew until running out of batteries. Light breezes over the lake and plenty of ice, though the surface was getting granular by 3pm.

I was trying to land my Super Cub and while turning into the wind, got grabbed by a small gust and tossed sideways into a Hemlock. Shut power down but the plane dropped straight down onto the spinner and cowling, busting the gear housing and the cowling. Timely - I already have the replacement brushless motor, esc, receiver, and the aluminum motor mount from Headsup. By next weekend with todays temps, the lake will be ready for pontoons. Yay!

Got out Sunday with my wife and some old flying buddies. My wife got two good flights on her 2-Meter powered glider (Sharpie) and I got two good flights on my Mambo 252. Actually got a mild sunburn, but had a nice, relaxed day.

On the other hand, on of our old friends smoked the motor and ESC in a big pattern bipe, plus lose small chopper when the radio failed.

A bit windy this morning but managed a flight with the Infineon Bipe
Fun to head into the wind and just let the bipe hang there and then turn around and do it again.
The infineon is a great bipe for back yard type flying.

Killer flying weather here in the DFW area today......high around 74 and winds light, around 3-5, with a beautiful blue sky.

I am taking off early today...planes in the car and ready to go to the field!
