It's called behavior targeting, the web page reads your cookies and picks relevant ads.

Well, that's exactly what cookies are for...

The browser stores info locally on your computer in one or more cookies, and the (any) website can query it later given they know the cookie name. Session ids, and sometimes shopping carts are typical examples of info often stored in cookies.

In you case the ad-server (highly likely googles ad server) found one of HKs cookies, and slapped a HK ad on the page you visited. Google can then charge HK for the targeted app (given they have an agreement, of course). Or if you have a gmail account - it found a cookie with your gmail user id, and coupled that with the info they have about you from your gmail account. Seems like normal operating procedure these days.

If you're paranoid, clear your cookies, cache and history on every brower exit.
