Same difference; with a wattmeter you will instantly know if you are pulling too many amps. Also, with regards to fan selection, a wattmeter will give you the ability to compare different fans to see which is most efficient. Otherwise it is difficult to decide and compare which is best: 5,6,7, or 8 blade fan? .different brands, etc

Skimp on the gyros as they're not nessesary for this type of aircraft especially at this scale. It'll just add to the complexity of the system.

+1, I dont use them either... although I am curious about this whole HH AS3X systems and have not had the chance to fly one yet.
