Hello Eric, here are more from Aspach and the MegaCup in Brno 2006.

Has a 100mm Deiss Fan in it, around 2,6kg thrust. First flights ended all after seconds till I got the CG right. Then it flew not that bad as it looks. Fast for that fat fuse, but visibility of the wings is not ideal, especially at the landing. But the look is really cool. Like a whale. We always said, it only has wings to fit some ailerons somewhere!!!!!
The old days it flew with 26x CP1700mAh and a Mega 22/30/3 with 2600g, later I fitted a 8S 3200mAh Lipo in it to save weight. Then it got 2200g.
The plane is still alive. But is only a show object, because I dont want to risk any crash any more.

I would love to make a much bigger version some day.

regards Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the background on the airframe. Very unusual and inovative.
Thanks also for the links to Aspach 2003, I had only seen a few of these pictures before.
Looking forward to seeing this project flying...

All the best,
Eric B.

Thanks.
The boom is made out of 3mm balsa with 4x4mm balsa strips on the sides.
Then the best work planed to make a ellipse out of it.
I glassed it with 25g cloth to save it from cracking alongside. I think that is important.
Now you can lift up the wing holding the end of the boom with no bending or any other sign of action.

Planked the rest of the fuse and will now finally sand all parts for the finish.

Whoa, you build fast!
Where did you get the plans? Or did you make those yourself?
