then again, imagine this: one of the other "top manufacture" had released this slick. i swear you the crouwd would go crazy excited about. i stand for my word, the kit is absolute top, it is worked more precise than the planes from ef, sebart, pa , gb etc. its the best i had in hand and i had at least a hundred. as for flying i dont call it the best, as all planes act their own way and i have not spent enough time with it yet and i need to try different setups too. certanly it has no bad attitude...it is well developed and its sure hk has (may be new) some great pilots involved. i could do with more elevator authority, althought it has enough. @dead, i ll do a vid, but sorry, it will take time. dont know if i get any time to fly this week (work) and then i go skiing and boarding for two weeks. just had to maiden the slick to finally know about. my flight report is about true, anyone who is fancy can order without no fear. |

OK to answer some of the questions.
The battery was Turnigy 40C 4s2200. Motorfly DM2820-750kv that only giving me around 630W WOT on VOX 14x7 prop. Harriers are not as clean as the EF edge or the skywing 48" planes I fly, don't know if its a 4s thing or not but there was definitely a lot of torque in certain things. Straight lines I noticed rudder input needed a few times climbing vertical but that may have been wind input. AUW with my lipo was 1580g. CG was neutral upright and inverted. Battery was half under the cowl. Losi, the KE spins and the blenders were strange on this plane. Very hard to enter the KE spins with any throttle input. Yes I know the proper stick positions and usually on my plane have no issues entering KE spins through a tumble then the spin. The few KE spins I did do the plane fell out after a couple of rotations and the was not flat spin rotation like I see in my other planes. IE, when I exit the KE spin I usually hold everything steady but move to slight right aileron to flatten out and the plane normally does a couple of flat rotations. Couldn't get the KE spins to hold in with this few flights so far. I have adjusted to get more down elevator throw (>55deg) so I will see if that helps. Remember when you saw the blenders and KE spins MWargo did on the Domin8trix. They didn't look quite right and seemed to fall out rather than tighten up. This plane seems to do the same thing. I don't know if an AJ slick will be like that or this plane might be peculiar. Don't mind, I also have a terrible time getting my PA ADX to KE spin or blenders. Maybe I need more weight in this plane to carry a bit more inertia? As to the AUW, I used a Plush40 esc and the 2820 motor plus the vox prop and still came in at 1580g. I cannot see how Dean built his with that big motor, esc, bec, and plastic prop and still came in lighter. Also, you will see that I didn't bother with the wheel pants, never have yet and that will save a few grams as well. |

I have to send the motor back and see how to get another 250W out of it.
It ran OK but only pulled around 40Amps wot on the setup I had used. I suspect this kV is closer to the 680 wind that Subtronics said the earlier batches were wound to rather than the true 720kV its actually supposed to be. |

Losi, so do you have your rudder set to max deflection and just use less stick movement or do you restrict your rudder throw in your setup?
Currently I'm getting full rudder throw on this plane, touching the elevator cut out on both sides at max throw. Every plane is different, my EF edge will KE spin by simply thinking about it and it just holds tight until I ask it to exit. I do enter through a tumble and use left rudder, full down elevator, and a little left aileron to hold the wings vertical. As it starts to wind up I release the rudder input and it tightens up on itself like the prop is trying to eat the rudder as it spins around. |

EDIT: Oh, wait, you're running a 14x7, right? Pretty similar motor loading. |

roger, just went through your post again.
yes, it doesnt harrier the same way as the ef edge. the edge is just dumb harriering straight on, cant rock even if you wanted. the slick is overall much juicier, it can rock but its easy to not to do. it has the much better rolling rate too. intersting is, that you had to place the battery very foreward too. what servos did you put in the tail? and did you go with the standard pushrods? the auw....dont know how dean got the 1550 but certanly its not difficult to get there. i had 1660 with a 330g battery, heavy servos, heavy pushrods, heavy wheels. and not the lightest motor and esc. as said, the plane didnt feel any heavy at all, maybe the weight helped. as for ke spins, blender etc.....play around, i m sure you get there quickly. |

I have rudder setting on all my 3D planes on a 3 position switch. Max , 45º, and 30º . I normally keep it on the mid 45º rate for most manuvers, Go to high rates for KE loops and other high rudder manuvers, Very little do I use low but it there when I am working on drawing better lines.
So for KE spins I just use less input on the rudder stick |

long leng.
The weight of the plane I notice a little bit compared to a 1200g plane. The Dean guys ran the much heavier motor and esc than me so I'm still perplexed how he got his weight lighter than me. I'm using HS85MG on the elevator, HS65MG on the rudder, MG14's on the ailerons. Maybe the 85MG in the elevator contributes to the cg being more towards the tail. I'm sure the other things I discussed will just need me to adjust to the plane rather than it being a bad plane. Certainly handles a lot of violent stick work yesterday without too much complaining. |
