Painting on Real Carbon Fiber

We are building a full carbon fiber skin rc plane. How should we go about painting over the carbon fiber?

just like any other composite airframe. sand and fill imperfections, prime, fill some more, sand again, prime again, sand/scuff for paint, then paint

I would paint the mylars before creating the part. It's fairly typical in the sailplane world. Also, most CF parts start with a thin layer of fiberglass so Klass Kote is the best painted finish IMHO

Does anybody know what type of paint (metallic or whatever) would work best? And also is it wise to put a gloss coat over when I'm done?

Generally acrylic two component car paints are the best. They have lots of pigment to cover extremely well and stand all kinds of solvents and fuel. They also dry fast. Clearcoat is not necessary except for metallic. It only adds weight but sure is glossy.
