Question

E-Flite 25-46 Retracts

Hey Fellas,

Over the past year I have seen mixed reviews of the E-Flite Retracts. What are everyone's thoughts of the 25-46 size retracts with Tam's trailing link struts for a 10-11lb plane? They say they are good to 10lbs with the wire legs. Are the electronics reliable or do they fail after 10 cycles like I have read about previously on some of the units.

Thanks!

Brian

Lets burn
Ive got a set of these in a ProEDF Mig 29. Plane will weigh 4.3kgs, so about 9 pounds.
I'm using some old robo struts and will fly off grass.
They seem fairly strurdy in construction, all machined alloy, not sure what type tho. Looks alright.
They have had mabee 100 or so cycles now, setting them up in the plane, with some binding on the airframe, while I got the install sorted, and so far no adverse effects. Seem to work well.
Ive got the 15-25s in a Habu 32 with tams gear, working flawlessly off fairly rough grass.

Hi Brian
I have the 15/25 with Tams Struts.
I thought the Struts and wheels were a bit heavy for the Retract.
On the first run the Front retract folded.I take off grass thats why I got Tams Struts. Horizon replaced it under warranty but I am waiting on the weather to change to try it again.
I also have a set of 60 / 120 in my Spark with Tams Struts. Still waiting to get enough bottle to Fly it but they look alot better.
Cheers
Steve.

Done it all
Trunnions are soft Aluminum and you will get front and back wobble after a few landings.

The shaft to the gear box will snap if the gear gets hung up too many times.

I have these on three 8lb foamies, same problems for each. and on each set I have replaced at least one of the three retracts, nose or mains. I'm stubborn, won't use air if I can help it, so I live with the weakness of electric.

Thanks Guys. Yeah I hear the weakness is thre trunion. Tam is going to have an upgraded trunion for them as soon as he gets his shop up and running. Sounds like that is a must.
