Do you have a recommended method of connecting a DX6e tx to the computer for use with Clearview? I'm ready to buy the software but can't seem to figure out how to make my tx work. BTW, I'm an old guy with a new hobby so it takes a little hand-holding to get me to the next step. :-) I'm using Windows 7 on a PC. I appreciate any input you might offer.

Cheers!

PS - I also have a DX5e from my Apprentice that I'm no longer using and would love to be able to use it as a sim controller. Is that possible? If so, how can I accomplish that? Thanks!

All you need is this USB simulator cable that works great with ClearView and practically all radios :

Thanks for the reply Stefan. However I can't find anyplace on the DX6e to plug anything in other than an SD card. :-( This tx simply has no place to plug in anything. I figured it must use a dongle of some sort and perhaps communicate thru the trainer function (???)

Edit: Are you suggesting I use the USB connector with the DX5e? It does have a miniature phone jack port in the back.

The DX6e has no input jacks at all (aside from an SD chip slot). The DX5e does have a miniature phone jack in the back and that's where I've focused my attention today. I've tried to plug it in and messed with every way I can think of to configure it. The sim does recognize that there are 4 USB inputs to choose from in addition to the keyboard but it doesn't respond to any control inputs from that tx. Am I correct in assuming the 4 inputs correspond to the 4-position switch on the side of the dongle?

I've attached photos of the connector set that I got assuming from the seller's representations that it would work. I can return it and replace it with something else if there is another cable set that will work with the one of my transmitters. I don't want to have to buy a simulator specific transmitter but will do that if that's my only or best option.

Thanks again for your input.

I know you purchased this without knowing, but here is the truth:

- What you received is pirated product that contains stolen simulators and that is illegal in USA and Western world so I will not comment or help on that.

Thanks for telling me that. I had already decided it was junk so took advantage of Amazon's return policy. It's on its way back to them for a refund. Do you think the one you showed the picture of would work with my DX5e? About ready to give up and just order the dedicated tx.

Dedicated controller like the one in message above is the best solution:
- It just works, no fiddling around
- Does not require batteries
- It is always connected to your computer and ready to use
- You will not break your transmitter by accidentally dropping it (which you WILL do).

Thank you both for your suggestion. Amazon can't deliver until after Christmas while Grayson Hobby has them on sale and on hand. Got one on order.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas all!

So, for what its worth, I bought the Sim and am looking forward to getting the tx to make it work better than the keyboard. I sincerely appreciate your taking the time to chat with me on this forum. As a small businessman myself I understand the importance of good communications with your clientele. You, sir, are doing it right. My flying buddy and I both are using your software and I now am a fan. You're on the right track. Thank you and best wishes for good success.

Cheers!
