Parts recommendations?

I am new to RC plane building and I want to do this one right. Since it will have several dollars in electronics inside and be flown a good distance I would like to build it as reliable as possible. Digital servo's VS regular? Larger ESC? I have heard the Scorpion motors are very efficient and reliable so I will probably go with a Scorpion motor. Any recommendations? The recommended parts are:

4 9g micro servo's

45 amp ESC with 25 to 30 cm power input wires

AXI 2814 KV920 Outrunner brushless motor

APC9060E propeller

5000 mah 4S battery

I'm about to order the SW 1900 from Bevrc and don't know what size carbon rod to get, they've got several choices but don't specify which one is for the regular wing and which is for the new longer wing. Or is the rod in picture for the wing? If so then i guess the other rods you can purchase are for the fuselage, in any case some one let me know what i need to
get:-) Any help would be great, thanks.

The round Carbon Fiber rod that came with my 1900 has a CF rod for the wing and it has a measurement of Inner Diameter 7.5, Outer diameter 10mm, 43 1/4 inches long (1000 mm or 100 cm). As far as an extra support that you custom install I do not know.

The CF rod for the body is 8.5mm, outer diameter is 10mm x 23.5 inches (600 mm) The 168 body is used on the 1900, it is even stamped "Skywalker FPV 1680" on the side of the body the same as the 168, I purchased one of each.

The original 168 V5 wing CF Rod is - inner diameter 6.75mm, outer diameter 9mm, length 30 1/4 in or 768 mm.

Flew my V5 skywaker with the 1900mm wing today. With the old wing I could cruise at 8amps with the gopro and case. With this wing I could cruise at 5amps. Other than that, I couldn't really tell a difference. I didn't have much time today so next time I will try a long distance flight and see what I can get out of it.

If my math is right, that is a 37% improvement. That is impressive. I guess you could go 37% farther or stay up 37% longer. Nice.

I would not say 37% farther, because I suppose tha the crousing speed is slower with the 1900mm wing. cabster101 could you please quote the crousing speed with each wing?

I was doing around 19-20mph against the wind and around 27-28 with. I would say that pretty close to the old wing. Maybe slightly slower.

8A sounds like quite a lot, even with the added drag of the GoPro case.
With GoPro mounted sans case (but including flight camera on pan&tilt), with no extra provisions
made for aerodynamics (no canopy), my V2 Skywalker would cruise at 6.5A (on 3S pack) averaging about 26.5mph.

20 upwind and 28 downwind for the 1.9m version works out to 24mph so it is a bit slower.

Hi cabster101

I would appreciate if you could share the CG that you used.

I emailed BEVRC today, and to my surprise they replied within an hour. They told me that they will be selling the 1900mm wings when they are available
