If you're not using the Drive Dog(not dog nut) or the shaft why even bother with it?

Scorp, after my last message i checked the mail and the motor mount is here. Right now i am staging things up to get a feel for the positioning..

Question, on the cooling tube..do i need to apply some "grease" or something to get the tube over the motor?

Yeah, you need some grease, oil anything to make the O rings slipperey while sliding the cooling jacket into place. If it's a HRC jacket, it even tells you that on the label.

more tear down pics

Scorp, i cut down the existing dog nut so i could get the existing shaft out..here are some pics.

After i cut the nut off there was a plastic washer and sort of a "guide" washer that kind of fits inside the metal shaft "holder"..it fits my shaft so i guess i can use it again..??

Question, when i removed the old original shaft ..as i was pulling it out there was another internal tub..i just pushed it back inside...so i guess that is ok??

As i pushed in my new shaft it slides in good enough but it stops before exiting the back of the metal shaft "holder" ..i took pictures of both the new shaft..on the left and the old shaft on the right..as you can see the new shaft has a "ridge" on it...i think that is preventing me from pushing it all the way out the back...can/should i grind that down??

I'm going to have to get another shaft arent i?????

On the old shaft...after the main length..were it gets smooth..its 4.9mm...then the threads

On my new shaft..its 6.3mm then it steps down to 4.7...then the threads...

So that area on my new shaft that is 6.3mm needs to be 4.9 at least...

I looked inside that shaft "holder" metal piece and there is some type of collar that is keeping the shaft from coming out the back..

IM GOING TO NEED A NEW SHAFT ARENT I.....?? AHHHHHHH!!!

Take good look inside the bore of the strut. Chances are you will fins a couple of bushings that you will need to knock out. Once they are gone you'll probably need a piece of 5/16" brass tube to fit inside it. That brass tube will be the right size for a Speedmaster bushing yhat will fit your flex shaft. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ds-015-bsf-250

Got to this page. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...1478759&page=3 (or post 32 and post 36) That should give you a good idea of what it entails. At leas that's what I did with mine.

I saw the bushing was out of stodk when I listed it for you. He's also got them for a "stinger" that are in sttock. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...s-spds-015-bsf I'm not 100% sure on the OD of that one though.
