I prefer wood props for the smaller engines, I really like my vess over falcon and xoar on my 50cc. On the big ones, 100cc+, I like carbon. I run a 32x8 mej on my da 150 and prefer it over the Vess 32c stealth.

Took apart one of my Fromeco 5200 packs to try and make 2 2600 packs out of it. While I was doing it, I looked up the cells and found that they are about $4-5 per cell, available locally. So for less than $20 in cells, these packs are selling for $70!!

Anybody else out there build their own lion or life packs?
One question I had was, I don't see balance connectors on the lion packs, are they needed?

A local flyer who flys EDF's does a lot of lipo work. Jets are tight and he'll break them up to fit them or add a couple cells. I had a 4s 4000 zippy bust a cell and he took it made it a 3s and combined with another 4000 set. Good use out of usable stuff.

Looking for someone who's done work on Lithium ion, life, or a123's.. I won't mess with lipos, not yet anyways! ill stick with a more stable cell just in case I screw something up!

I've "built" 2S and 4S A123 packs before. Got my cells out of a Dewalt battery pack. It was not as easy as i thought it would be, but I wouldn't say it was difficult. The hardest part is soldering directly to the cells w/o getting them too hot.

Lots of tutorials and how-to's on the net if you search around. I followed some guides that were written years ago.

Do you know if lithium ion cells need ballance leads? The fromeco's don't have them, but the a123 tutorial I watched did.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I thought that all lithium batteries benefit from balance charging.

So why does fromeco not have balance leads on their lithium ion packs, but they do on their life packs??

No, I won't ship it. Don't ask

Could it be an internal circuit that balances them constantly? Ie, a "drain" that lets some voltage into the other cells when one is a little too full?

Could be... I took them apart and the cells were balanced perfectly at 4.01v each...

For lipos, it could also only be needed if you don't want to burn your garage/house down....
