Flying music

I have started to fly with music for motivation. It also keeps the CJ's away from me on the flight line. Noticed that Ben Fisher also enjoys a tune while flying - here is my playlist. And since most songs are 3 -min, you can listen to 2 and then land -

Puddle of Mudd - Blurry
John Mayer - Heartbreak Warfare
U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
INXS - Not Enough Time, Hear That Sound
James - Born of Frustration
Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry
Humble Pie - 30 Days in the Hole
Guns and Roses - Live and Let Die (I would like a Joe/Jim Smith video to this one!!!)
Foster the People -Pumped Up Kicks
Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly (what else?)
Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds
Bowie - Life on Mars
Echo and The Bunneymen - Killing Moon, Lips Like Sugar
Billy Idol - To Be A Lover
Kinks - Living on a Thin Line
Republica - Ready to Go
Rob Thomas - Her Diamonds

These are good ski tunes also! As long as you are a baby boomer .... ha ha

There was a guy flying with both earbuds in a couple weekends ago. I don't care about that as long as it doesn't interfere with calling out landings and takeoffs, which was the case that day. Every landing he made was a dead stick (90% of them ended with an upside down plane as well), because his music was so loud he couldn't hear the engine die. Diggity2424 almost smoked his plane with the 89 on one occasion because he didn't hear the landing call.

When I do this I only put one ear bud in. Although there are some apps for smartphones that will monitor the noise around you and filter it in so you are more aware of your surroundings. I'd have to search for them again to find the names but they might help you hear the music but also your surroundings.

Thats also what a spotter is for. If you are so into your flying that you are oblivious to your surroundings, either from ear buds or just because you can't take your eyes off your plane you need a spotter.

I don't fly with music if there are others in the air, and no 3D with jets up

Yes, will flying with others on the flight line. Not the safest option to have headphones on. Although, a little Metallica while flying sounds fun.

Mike, went rather smoothly in my opinion. But probably wouldn't have if you didn't help me out. The 103 is ready to go!! Thanks again Mike.

I only do it if I'm the only plane up, which is usually the case at our sleepy little club. Or just run off the iphone speaker, which isn't much output.

Nice work Dwight....I was hoping we had it explained well enough to make it fast for you. I can't wait to see it fly at our huckfest. I've got a 103 to build also....time to get started!
