What Prop For Sp-400 On Yard Boy

I just completed my second Clancy Yard Bee, but this time I have a geared speed 400 and a 7x600 Nicad pack. I now realize that the old prop will not work. What should I use? I tried a 11x7 Master Airscrew Electric and it seems to turn OK but I am wondering if it is too much to fly with. BTW, is the 7x600 too much? Bud Orren

Oh, a Yard Bee...

What gearing do you have ?

If it's 3:1 then you'll probably want less pitch, maybe a 11x4.7 or something in that range.

Thanx Zax- I haven't counted the gears, but the drive came with three small gears and I used the middle size.. I wonder about the weight of the 7x600 Nud

I ran a search and came up with this link for a couple of Yard Bee's, no prop size, but both running direct drive s400's on smaller props. I'd guess you're over-powering it with a geared s400 and your ground clearance looks limited to less than an 11" prop anyway. Jim

The gears are most likely 2:1, 2.5:1 and 3:1 (guessing), in which case you've used the 2.5:1...

What kind of performance/flight are you after ?

If the ground clearance won't run to an 11 inch prop you might try a 9x6 or similar.

Zax-I am very fussy. I like to see a plane takeoff, fly around, and land in shape to do it all over again. Anything more is overkill. Anything less is unacceptable. Bud
