Anybody else notice USPS shipping price increase ?

Just went to ship an Item overseas and it seems like the price has really jumped a bit. My package was about a pound and a half in weight shipping first class registered. $16.31 was the cost for shipping and the charge for the registration was another $11.75 Costing a total of $28.06 . Unless I havent been paying attention seems like the pricing has jumped a bit.

As of 1/22/12, the USPS had a price change. Some stuff did indeed go up, but it looks like Parcel Post went way down. In most cases, mush cheaper than UPS and FedEx ground. I also noticed larger Priorty packages seem a bit higher than before.

First class mail with delivery confirmation also went down if your going through paypal. Anything 1-3 ounces used to cost $1.75 now it is down to $1.64.

One thing to remember with the USPS 'If it fits it ships' boxes.

They charge a flat rate for one particular size of box, no matter what the weight is. You can ship the same part in your own box and pay a lot less than the flat rate box costs.

For instance you can ship one servo for $5.35 in their box or under $2 in your own.

That's my experience anyway.

Yes, but when they first came out, I shipped a couple of 15lb downrigger weights for about $13. That's where the fixed price box shines.

Well, yeah in that case you came out ahead. But my point is for smaller stuff you overpay with their boxes.

Absolutely. Lighter weight packages you have to do your homework.
