I've seen a few engines do this, usually its a pressure in the cowl problem that can be fixed by soldering a nipple on the hole that is over the diaphram side of the carb and running a tube either inside the fuse or in front of the carb inlet.

Good idea, but wouldn't it still do it in positive G maneuvers if it was cowl pressure? I ain't saying you're wrong, but it just seems like cowl pressure would only be affected by forward airspeed, and not the attitude of the plane.
I don't think the GT33 has a hole in the plate that you're referring to. It has a fuel line tapped straight out of the crankcase and into the carb.

Its usually from not having enough openings for the air to exit from the engine area.

I've usually had that problem when the plane is in KE or inverted. And as Jim said, if you don't have enough air exit holes you will have problems too. Make sure you have 3x more exit area than enterance.

I have both of the vented panels on the tunnel, is that not enough? It's a 72 SC.

You missed two good ones! Joe just ripped it up on his new 71 Slick and Wamsy did his typical magic with the Byper. These guys make me feel like a beginner!!

3D? I only got two thumbs!
Today's lesson learned: if you are making a low harrier pass downwind and get the urge to turn and come back upwind, anticipate what the wind will do to the plane in the turn first :-)

Today's question: I now have a xoar beechwood 14x7 prop with a notch in one blade that's about 3/32 long and 1/32 deep. And damage on the outer 5/8" of the other blade that is mostly in the 1/32 depth range but gets up to 1/16. No splitting visible. Do I clean up the edge a little, balance it, and fly? Or is it safer to just toss it?
