Just curious about the larger frames from GLB? I recon that a larger frame is more stable, and a hex has better lifting capability than a quad...right?

Okay, now please keep in mind I'm a complete newbie with the multi-rotor machines, heck, I've only seen a couple multi's fly in my club, and I'll start out with a quad to learn the basics.

Am I on the right track with this?

Okay, I just noticed the motors I picked are 3s motors, not 4s...will these work, or should I look for a 4s capable motor set?

you dont need 4s. start with 3s.

i would choose the 20A hobbyking ESC instead of the 30A.. 30a is not necessary.

also for those motors I would use 8x4.5 not 10" props..

Hey Jon! Long Time! (I sold you a lipo charger quite a while ago).

I think you are definitely on the right track with those parts for a starter quad. The KK board is well supported by the community, and can be tuned to fly quite well.

Just to throw you an option, for about $10 more you can get an 'assembled' quad (granted, not the spider quad frame, just a regular quad frame) that uses the FF Freeflight board. http://www.goodluckbuy.com/mini-x400...assembled.html Note that it is assembled, and includes props

I own almost every Flight controller out there (I don't own Hoverfly or DJI . . . yet). But I was super impressed with how stable the FF board flew. On the other hand, it freaks out in the wind and becomes almost unflyable, so maybe it is better to stick with the KK board as you have chosen,

My point is, you are on the right track with simple, cheap components. I would also agree that 20a ESC's should be good on almost any bird you build, until you start using the larger motors (like AV Roto or similar) with 11" props. Then again, the 30 a ones ain't gonna hurt anything, and the additional weight is insignificant.

4S is definitely not necessary. I don't really know about the motors you have here. They look pretty good on paper. I haven't tried them yet. I may soon. I am using the HK30 amp ESCs and theses motors http://www.hobbypartz.com/75m40-opti...15-1200kv.html I use this battery https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=20436 with 10x4.7 props and I get about 15 min. My stuff never even gets warm. I went bigger on my motors and ESCs so I could carry cameras. (which I don't have yet)

Hi there. Im considering same frame kit. Rigth now ım using normal style X copter with KK board and 4.7 firmware.
My Question is :
-any body tried this spider style? good/bad?
-there seems a square part on the frame. is the CC mount?

I have this frame running the free flight board. It is a large and very strong frame. I have a few pics on my blog page. Two nice things about this frame is it includes the landing gear. And I was able to mount the esc,s inside the frame for a very clean looking build.

Would I recommend this frame, yes. It flys well.

I will take some flight video this weekend. Last week when I flew it I slammed it into my mail box on accident. And nothing broke. Except for a chipped prop. Lol...

One thing I forgot to mention. The frame comes with a ton of hardware. But the standoffs are not the right size. They are about 2 mm too short.
