I don't think that weather could have come from Shropshire as we have just been designated a drout area

Rotorcraft Flying Handbook

I came across this handbook the other day whilst browsing things autogyro.

FAA 8083-21

Chapter 15 onwards covers autogyros, it answered a lot of questions I had about autogyro theory.

Cheers, Richard

Interesting stuff Richard

My Fire Fly II is now complete and ready to test fly, shame the weather doesn't want to play ball! think we are in for a bit of the wet stuff!

I've started the build, all to plan of course, except I didn't have any carbon tube, so it's a spruce boom. Oh, and I didn't have any 6mm balsa, so I've used 4mm, and I haven't got the HK head, so I might be making one, and I cut some lightening holes in the B1/B2 bits, and I didn't have any light ply so I made up some balsa ply

Not such a 'LAZYGIT' after all

I'm sure the use of balsa will make things lighter and only improve the flying characteristics

Due to the weather I have done a little more on the 2 others I'm building, the third will be my 'night' version. I have decreased the thickness of some of the balsa and added stringers. Between these will lie the L.E.D strips, I just couldn't think of another way of doing it.
As you can see from the photo its a bit fatter than the plan version but it is 10 grammes lighter at 105g still not enough to make up the weight of the light strips just yet though.

What could possibly go wrong!!
I suspect there may well be a few reports of UFO sightings to the MOD at Winterton around the end of June

Do you have build progress pics for that new fus Rich? If so we could have a pdf again.

PS Thanks for the post mod.

No I don't have drawings, I just stuck square section to the existing fuz until I liked the shape. Added a couple of formers, shaped 'by eye' and made symetrical using the folded paper method and added them to the top rear.
I am not 100% sure I like it but it is all done for a purpose and that is to shoe horn some LED lights in.

You manage to do all that in a day??? Impressive. I've now glued the fuselage base, formers and sides. Just waiting for the glue to dry. I think I can get some benefit out of using 4mm, as I can put some stringers in to space off the covering then it should look neater without bubbles.

Can't believe this ruddy weather must be at least 3 weeks since we had any decent flying weather.

I have now got most of the fuselage lights in place, has taken a while to solder everything up. The lights seem to show well even through white solar film so I may well stick with this. I have some transparent stuff but I you can see the LED's through it when they are off.

Post more as I add more lights.
