Oops, I missed that page. But its quite simple to make something similar. I think the trick is, even though its not scale, to keep the fuse as narrow as possible for less drag.

But I couldn't put the old girl to rest, I removed all the old tape, no wonder she didnt want to stay up, the fuzz was almost split in half.

So the rebuild starts tonight.

In and out around the tourists and trees.....

Just wondering as that was my last impression whilst up there!

No, we are not allowed to fly at the touristy area. We fly at a prior turn-off, a few hundred meters away. As you go over Kloof neck, turn into the Signal hill road, follow that road along until you see a mosque on your left, take the first left turn to the viewing-site after the Mosque (about 500m) and you will be in the parking lot. Walk up the path to the left and you will see the bench, where we all fly from.

Sometimes you have to dodge the Paragliders.

FYI the building you are referring to is not a mosque but a kramat - basically it is the grave of a holy person.

Anyway, and now for a gratuitous Alula shot at Signals

SSW predicted by Windguru for Saturday on Melkbos side and should work perfectly for Hoogekraal (In the bowl). Rain might have cleared up by 2-3pm. Who knows? I will unfortunately have to sit this one out.

Enjoy!

My apologies, I took the directions from the AFC website. I guess we will need to update that also.

Nice shot of the Alula!

Some of us "DS" (in small circles) on the back side of Signals, but it is not really encouraged, as the public road and footpath runs close by. There are however nice DS sites down to Chapman's Peak side, but apparently quite a hike. I saw photos of it and it really looks nice and I would like to try it some day.

Hi Guys,
Best scenery ever but your landing area's look tricky, has anybody taken gliders up in the cable car and flown from the top on Table mountain, is that possible? .

Cheers
Mike

Landing on Signals is much easier than it looks.

I don't know about anyone taking gliders up Table Mountain or if it is even legal. A couple of things that would concern me are....
(a) hitting a tourist (not a SAMAA registered flying site),
(b) very rocky surface (not good for landing),
(c) what if you lose your plain? (gone forever).
(d) I would not want to pay cable car fees and stand in long queues every time I want to fly. Also, when the wind pumps, they close the station.

As far as I know its out of bounds and not an option.
