Cape Town Slope Flyers

Another update.
Here is a good page with multiple webcams around Cape Town.
http://www.xplorer.co.za/local/webcams/

Here is another nice webcam from the lower cable way station across to Signals to check on cloud cover.

http://www.vodacom.co.za/personal/se...firstLoad=true

On the left select TOURISM and the lower cableway station.

If there is anything else you guys think I should put on the first page, please let me know.
Cheers
B

Hi all
For those interested in the TOSS Aerobatics competition results from last weekend, there is a nice write up on http://springfieldchickens.blogspot.com/ .

I'm sure Kevin will eventually put something on blog.toss.co.za but in the mean time you can get results from Springfieldchickens.

SE on Hoogies tommorrow.
See you all there. SE 20km/h. Better take your Alulas it may be a bit light to start.

Cheers
B

And it didn't take you long either Dave!

I thought the reason we never heard from the Cape Town slopeing fraternity....
Was because they were always out flying!

No time for anything else.
Let's see what you got!

Speaking of Hoogekraal, here are some pics from sessions earlier this year. As you can clearly see, rain has NOT been stopping us from flying

Hey zummi
Is that the 3m Baudis 2c?
Looks awesome in the air!

I had the Discus
Until recently....
Premature demise!

You need plenty of space to land!

Not 100% sure as it belongs to someone else. Sadly it suffered some damage during landing, but Jaque (the pilot in the pics) reckons it should be fixed soon.

Yep, it is the one from Baudis and it flies very nice! Pity about the bad landing...I tried stalling it in like a foamy after I accidentaly drifted too far back while chatting with some of my fellow slopers.

...but its minor damage, which is repairable.

Btw. I spoke to Brian and the Banana he has in stock is an E-Banana. The best of both worlds! Now the question is, should I pass by Maintlands slope to come and fetch it or let him courier it to me?

That's an awesome shot of your Ventus!

I think that Banana option has both fuses...
Contrary to the other comments, you will enjoy her.
Things are a bit of a tight fit all round!
Very slim profile in the air too!

Great fun had by all on Hoogekraal this afternoon. Even Jonathan who had to hike over the back to find his Bee.
36degree C on top. It was HOT, the wind was strong but the lift was quite iffy.
The view makes up for the temp.
Bruce (Bruceswd), Lyndon, Jacques (Jak35), Jan, Roy, Jonathan, Imraan (Zummi) and Andrew and Luke all had great fun flying mostly Bees.
Andrew and Lyndon gave their Toucans a bit of airtime but with iffy lift Bee combat was the game of the day.
Lyndon and Jan also gave their foam warbirds a fly.
First pic is from behind the flightline. Second is of Jonathan (Bee), Lyndon (Toucan) and Jaques (Bee (We call it TRON).

Joined AFC on thursday, and already had an awesome day today on the slope. But I think it might be time to retire the old foamy, but what to get, so many planes so little time -

Nice looking slope Bruce!

It looks perfect for VTPR type flying....

You guys are going to have to show us on Google where your flying sites are!
(So that we can come and visit!)

Is there an old abandoned quarry on the one side of that hill?
Do you approach it past a farm called Welgegund from the Durbanville side?

Great seeing your posts guys!!
