Also while I have it apart I scaled the top hatch. If you cut open your Spit and remove the hatch to gain access the the inside of the plane, that whole piece is exactly 3.9 g.


Hatch with clear canopy = 3.9 grams.

P-51 nose cone and 2 blade prop= 2.5g

Spitfire nose cone and 4 blade prop =2.5g.

I have flow both the 2 blade = 5:12 flight time at FT. And the stock 4 blade at FT with the same battery and the 4 blade ran for 5:24.

Also the 2 blade trims out differently than the 4. Personally I much prefer the performance of the 4 blade as it had a more stable feel with the 4 blade.

With the same motor and tranny as my P-51 same weight in prop still looking for we're all the weight is.

1S AS3X brick is 6.6 grams... So where is the weight of the plane coming from?

I am loving this plane. Small and slow enough I can fly it in my dead end street. Which I can't do with my Beast or Mig.
The Nornal AR6400L is 3.9g, so the AS3X adds 2.7g the AS2030L adds another .5g over a AS2000L, so thats + 3.2g over an Non AS3X plane.

I personally think the extra 3g is worth it.

Front and rear wheels with wire = .9g.

The wind drag they create is more of a factor the their actual weight when trying to increase the flight performance.

HH has released a nice product here.
IMO fresh (ie NEW) 25C lipos or better are essential
and a lego minifigure head makes a good pilot substitute

Plastic batter cover with magnets= 1.5 g...

Now we are getting somewhere...

The weight is in the pretties.

Clear pilot canopy, plastic magnetic battery cover, foam radiators on the bottom side of the wing, black plastic exhaust, all that stuff makes the Spitfire look great but are making it just a bit heavy compared to other UM planes.

Looks like if you want a lighter plane start but stripping all of the stuff listed above will net you several grams.

Myself I am going to have two one pretty original and one stripped down fighter I can fly on wind days that is too windy for all my non AS3X planes...

I couldn't agree more, I'll take a few grams for the ability to fly it when most days I would be grounded.

Gray plastic wing tabs that hold on you removable front wheels = .5g for the two together...

Wonder how light we could make a hand launching Spitfire???

Clear plastic canopy by itself =.7g.

Plane looks better with the canopy on but who can see it in the sky...

Remove more weight Captain!!!
