Using helical gears give a much more even distribution of power

Which equates to less noise, as the mesh doesn't jump from one tooth to the next - part of the next tooth are in contact before the previous one disengages.

thanks Scot and Robin, a small question... will using helical gears result in slightly more power loss compare to straight cut gear?

This is by no means a new concept in RC Helicopters. Henseleit use Helical gears and I see that CopterX in their new 600 size TT is now also using them.

Henseleit wouldn't use something that is not more efficient or similar to other more basic technology, as Jan Henseleit prides himself in being the leader in the industry.

Mikado also use helical main gear/pinion.
One of the pics said "Don't take a photo"...

There are a few photos here: http://tinyurl.com/6pl6jq5

The FBL Blade 300x looks interesting, but it's not the brushless mCPx we were hoping for.

The 300X would be perfect for the huge field across the street from my house though.
