I finally decided on my motors and Gary at Efflux took good care of me getting them for me..(and answering a ton of questions..lol)I rolled the dice and went a little higher on KV from the tested motors with these fans..Not much higher but a little..
I should see at least 7 lbs per unit i'm thinking...These motors are monsters and I'm glad I moved my fans further foreward as I think it will be needed to get the CG right..Just beast of motors and should be able to take a TON of abuse..
They absolutely dwarf all the 70mm motors...
Have a looksy..

Hey Rich,
This is what I ended up with...the duct has the right height on the lip but it could have been better.this is my first duct anpd im anxious to get it glassed i guess..now to get the end wellprimed, sanded, painted and painted and painted....ooopppps..my record was skipping...and waxed and waxed, and waxed....damn...stuck again...

an updaate of sorts..
Completed 1 duct and just have to melt foam out of other..
Thanks Rich for the help on needing the fan lip,,it came out perfect..I just cut the foam back to shape mudded liberally and sanded slowly back to the desired shape taking my time to do it right..Thanks to Air Sally for pointing out a few mistakes I made the biggest being soft paint on the plug (testors)..I did overcome this by giving 3 days dry time and many coats of wax...after 3rd coat the paingt stopped comin g off in the waxoff..I still need to scrub them out again to get the little bits of paint off..Pretty straightforeward..

Heres the ducts loosely slid into the first 3 bulks..I still need to trim both ends of the port duct..the statboard has been cut off but the front will still get a final trim once the ducts are set in place..

Hey Hover or Die,

Do you know how much your ducts weigh? I'm curious.

Hover, that F-22 is really coming along nicely. Did I notice a Scorpion on the back wall? that looks really cool!

Arrowking....
I just pulled one out and weighed it and got 108.5 grams..
Hope that helps..
Mustangace,
Yes you probbably did see a scorp or 2...I've scratchbuilt 2 nice size ones..The prototype was heavy and I redid it at about half the weight..I have also half built a micro but stopped due to other projects..The Scorpion I fly now is an aerobatic tyrant!!!around 4 lbs all up,2300 watts with vectored thrust...
There is a thread in here somewhere,,,probably 5 or 6 pages back on both the scratchbuilds...

very cool! I just put a 114mm fan together and I'm looking for an airframe, can't wait to see this F-22 fly, I'm tempted to get the older pro design twin 70mm
