Gary I use the cheapo program box. I have the first series esc and motor. I didn't think the usb program box worked with my esc does it? I've seen them on ebay but never bought one. How about you? You using one now?

You can't use it because the box is not functional wth the older escs. The computer boxes with the usb cord is for the newier models.

Anyone try the larger esc that works with the new program boxes? What if I grinded or cut down the heatsinks? I mean if our motors and esc don't get hot now then a larger esc would remain even cooler. Its the size of the esc fitting in the mounting area.

Not sure what esc you are talking about; but the rules that I have say: " Any micro or mini esc. No full size esc / speed control. Esc must be mounted under faux motor 100%."

Gary what esc are you trying to use and why not use what everyone else is running? If your talking about as Larc mentioned above a bigger esc It would be illegal to race with it. I know the Tekin, Mamba and many others won't fit. He's right it says it must fit under the motor Gary.

Toby I was thinking of using the 2.0 with the heatsink off. If I did my measurements right it should fit. If not then rules are rules.

It won't work. Im willing to bet it will draw to much current even if it was to fit. I'd shave a Mongoose sinks off before you total a 2.0 Gary. Why change your esc whats your reasoning?

I want the updates because with the 1.0 the settings are different plus you get the USB.

Gary I may know a way you can update your software on your esc but you have to use your older esc and the 2.0 won't fit no matter if you shave the sinks off or down. Its to wide.

I don't know about that bro. Heres the esc I was going to go with until everyone like you told me it won't fit. I measured it out and I think it will. Do you now for fact it won't?

GottaCuda,
If that is the EZrun esc it will fit as I have one in a kart. Takes a little bit of grinding under the motor to fit as well as precise wire placement; but it fit.

I really thought so WoodyT. So all you did was gring down or remove the motor mount tubes? Or did you leave them? By the way, a big thanks for the info on the exact fit.
