On my Pegasus version the mast is adjustable I will start with a taller than scale rotor head then see how it goes

Bill,
To make up a 2" differential is going to need a hell of an angle alteration to make it in line with the CG position . Something I wouldn't try myself but I have never tried it so cannot comment. If one of my fixed wings were nosing down I would try to find another way around things rather than adding up thrust to try to over come the problem. Plus in theory the thrust of the motor will alter in relation ship to the rotor flying angle? Joe, I would go with blade 'C' if it were me, with the AUW I would aim to at least get the thrust line in line with the CG with a tolerance of no more than 5mm above. I played with this gap last year with REX and the only way I could control the pitch down under power when the gap was increased was to increase the rotor length. I tried AB blades at a shorter length and this did not work, so it seems the gap can be increased but its drag at play that is counteracting the upper thrust line. This was done with only a 2 blade set up so it may well be different with 3? With a full tailplane the thrust line is not so critical as it acts as a damper, the further it is away from the prop the more it can control it. My Tempest thrust line is 3" -4" above the CG and that flies fine, but it has a lot of tailplane area. I am not sure it would dampen a thrust line under the CG though? Dave needs too loose some weight around the top and increase it some how lower down I think. Hope the info is of use? Regards Rich |

If we cannot get them to fly we have a back up plan here are some conversions we are considering

Joe: Those videos make it look so simple. Hope your back is feeling better, nothing more frustrating then trying to work around a nagging backache. I have managed to get a separate motor and shroud UNIT built that I can move up and down on the back of the fuselage about an 1&1/2" or so. worried about weight too, maybe a vacuum mold of the shroud would be the way to go but I don't have the resources to do that, besides mother is still looking for her shade. So using the oven is out of the question!

Looking good there Bill! I like how you'll be able to move that assembly anywhere on the firewall. Lots of flexibility.
Hey, you don't have to use the oven. With a little practice, you can heat the plastic right over the stove and hook mama's vacuum to the box! LOL DC |

Bill
The back is on the mend a couple more days with pain killers The small pieces I made with my small vac box worked OK and is good practice for something bigger My body plugs are to large for the oven that's why I need to make a heater box saves any fall out from the Mrs I like your modular shroud set up that should give you plenty adjustment of the thrust line Joe |

Bill looked at my model and we may have to adopt your motor and shroud idea to get the thrust and cg position

Unable to do any building so been searching the net for future projects
Found a few more ducted prop gyros and a few interesting models I haven't seen before Joe |
