Seems some people are shocked by the weight but that's normal for this bird. With that thick flat-bottomed wing it's a real floater.
Thanks Tom! I'm dying to get back out there this weekend, but we are going to be getting hit by the residual of that Hurricane. No flying this weekend.

Congrats, pretty proud of yourself aren't you. Nothing like a successful maiden of a built-up model, especially one that required some planning and ingenuity. Your slide show and video are great but might scare those who don't have the patience, time, etc, to do more than buy a big box of ARF foam.

Thanks Dion. I tried to make the video entertaining, but to show what was involved in the kit build.

Proud of myself? Yeah, I actually saw this through to completion. I think anyone that finishes a kit should be proud of themselves. Full of themselves though? Definitely not. The video I would hope would inspire those to build. I love an ARF just like the next guy. But the sense of accomplishment in a task this large was rewarding in itself. Some don't have the space or like you said, the patience and time to do a build like this. I have a whole room dedicated to just this. And its not a small room. I don't ever want to see this hobby come down to just ARF's. They're great to get something up in the air quick, but the feeling of building something yourself is hard to describe. It feels awesome!

Congrats on the Maiden SkylineFlyer. You did a supurb job with the construction of your kit. I read through the thread completly today, I sort of lost track of this thread and forgot that I posted on it early in the build. WInter is just around the corner, I'd like to finish mine. So far I only have the wings framed up.

By the way, I THINK the Carl Goldberg Aniversery J-3 Cub kit and the Great Planes kit is the same kit but the Goldberg kit is cheaper from Tower.
