I am curious if Thunder Power is a sponsor this year?

Specifically I am curious if we can swap out some old batteries with them. They did not offer this service last year, but I have heard they used to do it at previous events.

That is up to Thunder Power and they have not told us in the past when they did it and I would not expect them to tell us before the event if they were going to. They did that 3 years ago and 2 years ago, but not last year. Hope this helps.

Nickey,

I'm sure Chris Henson will have another 3d smackdown. Look for it to be announced at the field.

I understand there are strict rules about using radios in the pits to help with the 2.4 traffic but what about in the evening and at night? I'd like to bring my micro helis to putz around the easy up in the evening or early morning.

Mike,

Between sundown and prior to 9AM in the morning, 2.4 is not monitored, but we do ask for everyone to be cautious to how many radios are turned on in the pits.

A couple questions:

1: Is there a charge for anybody I bring with me who doesn't fly?

2. Do non flyers need an AMA card?

I know these questions are answered somewhere I just haven't found it yet!

Captain
Captain,

1. On Friday and Saturday there is a Spectator fee collected at the gate. If that person is camping out with you then you would have a tent camping fee. Other than that, there is no charge.

2. Non flyers do not need to have an AMA card but, should stay behind the banner line at all times unless escorted to the pilot line as a spotter.

Hope this helps.

I think I'm finally going to make it this year, especially since I'm now so close. I'm planning to camp (in a tent) for a few nights.

Is preregistration required for a tent spot, or is it just a good idea?

What kinds of stuff should I bring that I wouldn't have thought of for a normal camping trip?

Thanks guys, Looking forward to this!

water, bug spray, sunblock, rain gear, monkeybutt prevention, good shoes, 2nd pair of good shoes...I'd hate to have to walk that much in wet shoes, and between the lake and the possibility of other ways to get wet shoes...

Well, there's good news and bad news:
The Good news: ThunderPower has agreed to maintain their status as a Primary Sponsor of SEFF for 2012.
The Bad news: Due to scheduling conflict with a previously scheduled event on the West Coast, ThunderPower will not be able to attend SEFF this year.
More good news: They have agreed to generously support the Raffle again this year, even though they will not be able to attend.
I'm impressed with their support, and hope to see them at the field next year.
