Motor glider that flies like an HLG

I whetted my appetite with a mega 16/15/7 powered Super Soarwatt in BEAUTIFUL Slermal conditions (slope/thermal)

http://www.modelairtech.com/stik.html

74 Stretched wingspan, 480 sq in wing area

Weight 14 oz (!)

Wing Loading 4.2 oz/ft2 (!!)

Power: Brushless mega 16/15/7 turning 9x7 CAM folder on 2s 1200mAh LiPoly cells draws 10A at full throttle

75 watts/0.875 lbs= 85 watts/lb!!!

Climbs fast at half throttle.

Floats like HLG with prop folded.

Zhack,

I got to this thread after you posted a link on the Bug mailing list.

14 oz?!?!?!? You mean 14 oz on each wing, I suppose...

Could you post close up pictures of the glider, motor, battery, etc.

Tks a lot,
Gustavo

Gee, what's that big bump you're standing on? Nothing like that in NW Ohio, except the land fills.

fuselage

Excuse the overdone kitchen island shot

Fuselage is stick and truss construction with 1/16 sheet bottom and 1/8 sheet around nose. V. light and strong when covered.

Light and Strong

AUW is 14 oz.

motor 3 oz
rx .75 oz
servos .75 oz
battery 2 oz

that's an airframe of about 7 to 8 oz for a 72" w.s. glider. Not bad, Tom.
