SMALL 2012--May 31-June 3, 2012-Wrightsville, Arkansas-PICTURES ADDED

Event pictures and videos have been posted and start on page 9: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...1574523&page=9

SMALL 2012 will take place May 31-June 3, 2012 (Thursday-Sunday) at the FARM Club Field, on the east side of Wrightsville, Arkansas.

Wrightsville is south of Little Rock. This will be the 22nd SMALL.

SMALL is for RC, Control Line, and Free Flight models of all types powered by electric motors, fuel engines .25 cu in or smaller (CL fuel engines may be larger), rubber, and even hand launch. Model Rockets of solid fuel and air/water types were flown again last year. Innovative and different from the ordinary models are welcome. The field is very large, flat, and open and can easily accommodate all of these types of flying. There will be a session of indoor electric flying on Friday June 1st 4-9 pm-see post #4.

Here are links to past SMALLs:

SMALL 2009 thread with many pictures: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=996481 . The event received magazine coverage in the October 2009 Flying Models and November 2009 Model Aviation.

A map to the field is at this link:

You can use the "Get Directions" button to get driving directions from your location.

GPS Users: Google Maps GPS Coordinates given are :+34° 35' 55.71", -92° 12' 39.83"
To use them with my Garmin Nuvi GPS, I had to enter them as :
N 34° 35' 55.7"
W092° 12' 39.8"

Street Address for the FARM Club Field gate that works with my Garmin Nuvi GPS:

6855 Hwy 386
Little Rock, AR 72206

On my Garmin GPS, when you put "Hwy 386" into your GPS for the street, you leave off the "Hwy" prefix and just put in "386". I know it says Little Rock, but my GPS says it doesn't have a "Wrightsville" when I do a search for it and "Little Rock" works. There are differences in map databases and your GPS may give a slightly different location, but I know this works for Garmin Nuvi. Google maps puts this location at 6517 Hwy 386.

SMALL 2012 is being hosted by the FARM Club or Fraternal Association of Radio Control Modelers Club. You will find their website here: http://farmtls.com/

More info to come. I will put updates in this or the next three posts.

Richard, ya planning to fly rockets this year? I've got an old Estes Bullpup that hasn't flown in years. Thought I might see if it's still serviceable and get you to launch it for me if you're gonna be set up for it. Used to fly it with my son when he was young. I got rid of most of my rocketry stuff years ago.

Excellent! Might even build a new one if time allows. Estes rockets take me back to my childhood.

TB,

Be sure to pick up some fresh engines and make a new parachute. I will be bringing my launch gear and hopefully some new rockets.

Stopped at the local Hobby Lobby and picked up a new starter set with launch pad, etc. Also bought some new engines and a couple of rocket kits. Lots to do before SMALL.

Just finished test flying a new SMALL model. Drawn by Steve Adams. Uses Ace tapered foam wings. Powered by Mangusta DR .049 rear rotary induction engine. Looking forward to the trip to Little Rock!

Dactyl ?

After the typical start stop start stop maybe next year assembly method, things are ready?? Five feet of questionable construction methods, a Cox Pee Wee .020 and 2 channels of radio equipment buried in the belly. Now what??
