LiPo Battery Flighttime with MultiWii


Hi there

I have a Zippy 3000 mAh 3S1P 40C battery (weight: 270 grams = 9.52 oz)

They were ment for the Suppo 2212/13 Motors, but since I'll be using other motors and esc's is it bad to have such a powerful 40C battery?

I'll have this:

The weight should be not a problem, but is it bad if you have such a high discharge rate for those 10A motors?

If yes, what do you suggest me to do?

If not, how long will I be able to fly ? +-

The battery will work just fine

40c only refers to the MAX discharge that it is capable of. you could run that batt at 0.1 C until it was discharged and it would be just fine. When you vary the throttle you are effectively varying the rate, power, at which you use energy stored in the battery. so no problem using a 40c capable batt. the only downside is that its heavier than necessary. that batt can sustain 120A. but i bet you dont need nearly that much. as far as runtime, it depends on weight of craft. most typical is 1000g. if your power system is 10g/W efficient that means you need 100 W to hover. since your batt has 3*3.7*3 watt hrs of energy. you could fly for up to 19 min or so. in reality there are other losses. i had mine on similar batt fly for 16 min.
