Aquila and Early Bird
I know just about every one knows about the Aquila but how many know about the Early Bird? Earl's ASW 15?

"but how many know about the Early Bird"
I do, and did. First RC Sailplane. A lot of lead was needed in the nose to hit the CG. I also had a slope ship from Earl too. Don't recall the name. Kinda like a Ridge Runt with a slick glass fuse. Nice flyer. Ended one day at the old Back Bay in Newport Beach CA. |

Mb 2-1977
Nice to hear from you JC, feel free to add anything you have.
MB R/C Soaring columnist Dr. Larry Fogel reports on piggy back launch a 1/2 Windward. There is the Pipsqueak too. Small sailplanes have been around awhile. The page before had this three view, pretty neat scale subject. Then there was the Jasco Floater built by "Brick" Brickner. Joe |

Talk about the Aquila
So my flying buddy Dave and I decided we were going to have a photo op... His is yellow and white built earlier in the year (2010). Mine was built in the mid 70's and has had 3-4 face lifts.
Lee was a great designer... |

Way cool Kurt, way cool.
From Dan Pruss, the long and short of it with a wedge Seems like 2M has been knocked around for a long time but it is still here, THANK GOODNESS! Oh, and that what looks to be a 2x Paragon at 25 lbs again. Would like to know more about this if anybody would like to share . . . . . . . . Same picture in two different publications but niether gave much info. Joe |

Crossover Modelers and Scale
The first is more to poke at the cry babies on the Vintage and Oldtimer thread. As I am going through these back issues I see boats, cars and rockets living nicely side by side with the varioius forms of airplanes and helicopters on the pages of these magazines. Looks like it has been that way for a long time so why somebody would cry about a boat plan being posted is beyond me.
Still, "Dirty Dan" Rutherford's Maestro looks pretty nice. I believe it is the Calinte'. Not to leave the Scale folks out, the Schweizer 1-26 three view. I scanned the 3-view at 1200 dpi (dots per inch, not the one posted here, that's 300 dpi), this would make a great starting place for a drawing and at worst a sorta scale. Those of you with the keener eye for detail could probably do VERY well with just this drawing to begin with. Youo just don't see this in the magazines any more, too bad. Joe |

Do any here remember an rc publication called Zephyr, published by Dale Willoughby? I sure do as I was a subscriber. It was at the time the most informative dialog on rc soaring world wide available at the time here in the USA.
