Flying Models August/September 1965

Lil' T on the cover and a rudder only scale K7.
Even back in the day there were guys like us wanting to skip cleaning glue fuel residue off the sides of our planes.

How many know that Ken Willard was very active in Soaring?
A lot may know of his power models but . . . . .

My Ex-wife Hates Airplanes
The Micro-fish was my very first R/C model! I taught myself to fly R/C with it.
I have a free flight background (thanks to my father) and I built it with a rudder and elevator. The elevator was fixed to begin with so I only had rudder to deal with. Once I got the hang of rudder only, I added the second servo and learned how to use elevator. Then I added a power pod with a Tee Dee .020. What fond memories!

Cheers, Nigel

By the way, Dad was a big F/F glider guy. He represented Canada in Prague in 1967 flying A2 towline.
That's Dad on the right, practicing for the world champs, with the other two team members.....

excellent thread!

Thermaler

Thanks for starting this post! Great to see some of the older pics and a few of my dad's columns from Model Builder. Keep it up! I'll try to add some things with time.

I'm glad someone else out there remembers the NSS!

Glad you found us Gary, add what you can when you can, this thread is going to be around and climbing the ranks.
Eventually all your Dad's articles will all be posted, just have to wait for the right price on fleabay for the issues. There are folks asking $25 or more for back issues that have pages missing!

Hinting for a sticky but . . .
It might help if we had a five star rating so vote on this thread guys!!

I would like to know more about the Apollo.
Does anybody have expirence with this model?
Would there be a copy of the plans out there somewhere that some one would be willing to share a copy?

I finally got around to reading this thread and am glad I did. So many of the old kits that are no longer in production are show here that it's a real trip down memory lane. One of these days I'd love to see some of these kits be re-released. Ray Hayes has a lot of the old kits back in production but I feel that there's always room for more1

Well done Thermaler for the Lil'T covershot. Built one at the end of last year and it flies great on single channel.

Back in the day, I always wanted an Apollo, but never got one. I was... for the longest time trying to remember that model and couldn't... Now that I see it, it comes flashing back...

Ken Willard discusses slope racer design.
I wonder what he would think of DS'ing??
