Love the plane, but it's that extra $45-65 in shipping costs...that give me second thoughts about buying one..

- Does anyone think there'll sell this plane through their US Warehouse(s) anytime soon?

- Is anyone else selling this plane?

Thanks,

upgraded a few parts

got mine today, seemed a bit limited on throw so i made a few mods with gear i had laying around.

the horns are HK ball bearing units i got ages ago for something and i swapped out the HK servos for HS 225mg hitecs or hicrash depending on who you talk yoo :P

doubled the throw and can get the full movement if i make a few small mods to the elevator tube support.. the servo horn hits the support before reaching full travel.

After flying i may try a 15x6 and 14x7 apc prop on it.... maybe the rimfire 0.32 i have laying about too if im not happy.

hk horns, they have nice friction free movement. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=4328

Battery Choice

Score0905 and RUBNorris -

Ordered one yesterday based on your comments. Other that the weight concerns, it sounds like a great bird.

I didn't order any batteries yet (I'm in northern Illinois, so it may be a while before I can get any quality outdoor flying). I'm thinking of getting 2650mah packs just to keep the weight down. What kind of flight times are you getting? Does the 3300mah pack fit without any cutting or mods?

Thank you.

I saw this plane flying on Saturday, and it seemed to fly quite well. It was the orange version, and it looked good in the air as well as on the ground. I might accidentally have pressed the "buy" button, when I happened to log in to HC yesterday...

handle the 3300 well. pushed all the way against the front firewall and only had to add just a little bit of elevator trim. status does that servo arm extension on top of the hs225mg make the elevator control rod not rub on the rudder control arm, and where is the best place to get a servo arm extension like you have on your hs225mg?

15x8 looks like tons of stress maybe a 14x# less amps?
Thank you for the test numbers

I've been ordering batteries here:
http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl2650-4s1p-30c-4444.html
I've had good luck with these batteries. May need to swap connectors though.

Currently free shipping with $50 order. Two batteries plus a few odds and ends (props?) gets you there.

Question about electronic thingy

RUBNorris:
In your maiden video after connecting your battery to the speed controller, you plugged something into the balance port and it beeped several times. What was it?

Weight: HK 1400mm/55" Sbach 342 vs 3DHS 57" Extra 330 SC

There's been some talk about the weight...but as ChrisNYPilot mentioned, the 57" 3DHS 330 Extra SC is just 2" larger in wingspan..with a weight that comes in right around 4.5-5.5 lbs.

So we're in the same ballpark here:
http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/57-Extra-...w_p_15128.html

Bring the weight down (mods- motor mount, landing gear, etc..) to 5 lbs or slightly under and it will be even better.

PS - Stock on Red/Black version is now 0....Orange version is now: 10

Yikes, that is some jump in Watts 568 to 1007 and Amps 46 to 75....would be great to know the thrust difference.

But I agree..15x8 sounds like too much prop. What esc were you running when you saw the 75A on your meter?
