Jay Leno has had a couple of cars built with huge motors from M-26 Pershing tanks. He says he'd rather drive his turbine, it is quieter! There was a guy in the 70's who took a Triumph Spitfire and lengthened it enough to fit a Rolls-Royce Merlin in it! Figured that a Spitfire should have the right motor.

Since my Cable was shut off, I've found Youtube very entertaining. Lots of good old movies and stuff like above.

Dude, is that a Hemi? Sweet.
Sorry, couldn't resist. I am still getting my brain around the 2,563 cubic inch displacement. More than gobs of torque. And the sound, like music!

Dunno Charlie, but in one of the videos (maybe more) the builder states it is a Packard engine as used in PT boats and airplanes.

Lotta folks think that but they are 2 different engines. Packard built V-12 marine racing engines all the way back into the 1920's and the famous Liberty engine that the rum runners loved. The 4M-2500 Packard was bigger and heavier than the Merlin and 2500 cu inches. Just looked it up via Packard marine engines on the internet, talks about both engines. Oh well, more usless info

Yeah, love that Goggomobil car. Actually, there are a few of them converted like this I have seen on Youtube. Also, slightly more sane, are these same cars with a Suzuki 1300cc Hayabusa engine stuffed in the rear.
