Sir, you overestimate me the plane I'm flying right now is 0.6 meter span. I am trying to get some funds for a topsky kit likely the cheaper 1.5m one. But Im not sure when I will be able to order that one...

Hey Red. The clocks were great! Much easier for me to see.
The contest was fun too!

1.5m and smaller planes welcome!

Derk,

As far as the contest goes, the span rule is a MAX span limit, so smaller planes are welcome to compete! We've had smaller planes compete in the past and we'd love to have you join us even with your 0.6m plane. I think you'll learn a lot even though, in general, more span = more performance;-)

Yeah I might see about taking a trip out that direction. My in-laws live about 2 hours from Seattle, so I could stay there one of those dates

Okay, Red, how did the contest come out?

Who was flying what?

How were the new planes?

Point totals are nice, but how about info?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Well, I have last place taken care of @2700 points. What a lot of fun though! Great bunch of guys. I can't wait until next month. This was my first competition and I am very greatful for all the help and guidance I recieved.

I hope to have it together a bit better next time. Went and flew last night and I can already see vast improvements in my flying. All the tasks were a ton of fun but I have to say the launch of the all "up last down" has got to be the coolest scene of all (especialy from the midle of the pack).

Thanks for putting this together, Lee

The Results SASS March 2012

For you inquiring minds...

I think it was a great contest, and not just because of who won. There were times when it seemed like there wasn't any lift, there was always at least one plane that seemed to get their time.

RED, would you please tell us what Encore Kadet is and how it looks like ?

Kai, several manufacturers have asked me not to divulge that the winning aircraft was a 4 year old airplane with a foam core wing...same as my 2009 and 2011 trips to Poway.

Sometimes its the plane, sometimes its the pilot... sometimes the plane fits the pilot like a well worn leather glove and all the lift is over that lefty pilot's right shoulder!

Can you give us a location for the MRSP? How far of a drive from I-5 and the Wash/Oregon border.

PSSF hasn't scheduled it's contests and funflys yet. Now that SASS, Portland and Salem have scheduled theirs, we are open to suggestions. My guess is that we will schedule a fun fly (bring your dlg and hang out, hangar talks and clinic) then a contest, then a fun fly, then the last contest. Always free food at PSSF

For those who might not know, PSSF is the Puget Sound Silent Flyers in Olympia, WA.

Post here with suggestions, PM me or post on "dlgpnw@yahoogroups.com".
