Finally!! This contest has been in the works since the DESS club decided to give ALES a try. Several of the members are getting new planes just for this event. The club split the cost of one of Randy's CAM units for any club member that wanted one, so you know we are "all in."

This will be a low key contest with the emphasis on FUN. We hope you see it that way and will want to attend. Oleg is going to set up a web site for registration. Cost will be $40 for the weekend to include both lunches and 1st thru 3rd place prizes for Expert and Sportsman catagories. E & S are the only catagories as there will be no separation based on plane size. I expect we will see a lot of foam planes at this one.

Come make Brady work. He needs to see what CDing is all about.

I'm in - calendar updated!

Now I really have to finish my skunk-works builds - one is getting close and the other is still in the planning stages...

Welcome Boys and Girls to our first annual ALES contest!

ALES has quickly gained popularity in the last couple of years. If you are like most of us older guys that have been chucking DLGs for a while. You know the old back and knee won't hold out forever. Now don't get me wrong. ALES will not take the place of DLG competitions and I personally will throw until I am paralyzed. But ALES/ LMR does place everyone on more of a level playing field. You will no longer have to throw a mile high or spend big bucks on high power motors.
I am sure we will soon have to separate planes into classes or even limit the wing span altogether as the planes become more efficient. But for now I feel like even the foamies with a good pilot behind the sticks has a good shot at the whinner circle.

This contest is gonna be a blast!!

See you soon.

You will just have to cancel that race, it is not as important as flying

So who's flying what for the contest?

I am still building my entry - all balsa, ~ 2M, 200 watt outrunner.

It's been a while since I scratch build anything from plans, so it was slow starting... I also forgot just how much fun shear webs & sanding can be
