2.5 Diesel
Webra Mach 1 copy ..

A very popular engine for some reason .
Quite a few variations , so I have to wonder if they were made by more than one group .

My Class 1 Speed OS CZ 11PS engine and pan setup. Engine is actually 1.8cc I believe. Single bladed CF "Joe Supercool" prop. Engine runs at about 34K rpm in the air. Rules required a symmetrical model with two lines. Dolly is a standard Stab lock A size.

McCoy .35 Hybrid stunt engine.

It's an old RedHead "Lighting Bolt" crankcase that I bored out a few thou to take a Testors/McCoy series .21 Blackhead cylinder and ringed piston. I also added is a Bjorn Baal piston ring and a SuperTigre style needle valve.

Some flying visitors examine an Enya .15 Diesel mk2 assembled from parts from Enya Direct a few years ago. Engine now runs very strongly and the birds still turn up most days for a piece of meat.

I've got a mk1 in bits, I really should try putting it back together. Otherwise two newish mk2's. More powerful that a mk3 Olly in 1960, less economical but you could buy them across the counter. The Olly was more expensive and you had to wait up to 18 months. I think Adrian Duncan suggested that the Enya was a big influence on Super Tigre and MVVS.

Hmmmm , ST already had the G20s was it ?
But yeah , that MK1 was winning some comps in it's day if memory serves .
The MK2 is just so much heavier ..
Dont recall the MK2 being as winning as the MK1 ?
The the G20/15 came out about the same time as the MK2 Enya 15D ...
Pre-production G20/15s came out ? Might have to go over my Aeromodeller collection from around that period to see ...
Been a while since I looked back in time .

The early G20 (circa 1956) I've run had a baffle piston. Yep the mk1 Enya was great, just fragile. Enya may have gone a bit overboard with the mk2 but they are reputably bullet proof. I didn't see a G20/15 flat top piston equipped engine till around 1964-65 or so.

G20/15

Was the 1960 model , then the 65 and then the 70 ..
When the 60 model hit customers ? If my ST mem serves , there were some pre production motors that went to speed and other competition flyers in Italy .

Did these motor leave the factory 59 or 60 ? , production motors I think left the factory maybe 61 , I would have to check those Aeromodeller magazines .

The G20s is the baffle motor ..
Im not sure if some G20s were made without a baffle as they were about to transition into the G20/15 motors .

Nice,
I've never had one of these but I've always been curious how they run.

This is my ST G20/19 in a (different) 1960 case but is baffled and has a 1/4x28 crankshaft, not the usual 5mm, so has no front ball race and probably means it was intended for a car.

Seeing I had my camera out for the ST above, here are my Cox Sportsman and Cox Olympic. The Olympic was the only Cox (of the traditional style) to have a ball raced crankshaft.

I've never seen one of those before. What were they used for?

I used to lust after the Cox Olympic in the glass display case at Levison's Hobby shop in Sydney. Not quite as unaffordable as an Oliver Tiger but very exotic.
